Vogue: Saks Fifth Avenue and Vanity Fair Celebrate the 2018 Best Dressed List in Style at Manhattan
“It’s deeply scientific,” laughed Vanity Fair editor in chief Radhika Jones about the process of determining this year’s Best Dressed List. The editor was joined by Saks Fifth Avenue’s president Marc Metrick in toasting the world’s most stylish at Danny Meyer’s new restaurant, Manhatta.“We did what you would do with your friends,” shared Jones. “We got a group of people together whose taste we trust, along with the editors, and we talked a lot about people with interesting personal style.” Any standouts? “I’m very inspired by Jeff Goldblum,” said Jones. “He describes himself as a late bloomer; it’s never too late to come to style.”
The focus on menswear was echoed by Metrick, who said its broad spectrum is enlightening and inspiring. “Right now, men’s fashion is in such a state of evolution,” said Metrick. “When you look at the list this year, everybody [is on there], from Ralph [Lauren] to Jay-Z.” The guests at last night’s soiree were equally varied, from A Simple Favor star Anna Kendrick to comedian Michelle Wolf.
But did Jones and Metrick have any insight about surviving fashion month in style? “You got to keep it fun and fresh—keep it going and have a smile on your face,” said Metrick. “This Fashion Week? Umbrellas,” laughed Jones.
