Safarova knocks Maria out in Paris

Maria has been knocked out of the French Open in Paris after a 6-7 4-6 loss to No.13 seed Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic in the fourth round. The match lasted an hour and 50 minutes.

In the first set, Safarova took a 3-1 lead, Maria then won two straight games to level the set 3-3. The set was decided by a tie-break which the Czech won 7-3. Like the first set, Safarova got an early break to lead 3-0 and Maria won three straight games to level the set 3-3. At 4-5 on Maria’s serve, Safarova won the match on her second match point.

Wimbledon is Maria’s next scheduled tournament which begins on June 29th.
