Maria withdraws from Toronto

Maria has pulled out of the Rogers Cup in Toronto, Canada with a right leg strain.

Maria said:
“I am very disappointed to have to withdraw from next week’s Rogers Cup due to a right leg strain that occurred in training a few days ago.

I did everything possible to be ready, but my doctors have advised me that I can’t compete next week. The Rogers Cup is one of the best events on the WTA and I will miss my amazing fans.”

The tournament is due to start on Monday and was scheduled to be Maria’s first tournament of the hard court season.
