Maria through to Indian Wells Quarters

Maria defeated world No.87 Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino of Spain 7-5 6-0 to advance to the quarters of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells. The match lasted an hour and 17 minutes.

The first set took 54 minutes as there was a total of five breaks of serve. Maria got the decisive break to lead 6-5 and in the next game served for the set and won the set on a backhand winner. Maria started to become more aggressive in the second set and it paid off as she didn’t drop any games on her road to victory. This will be Maria’s sixth appearance in the quarters in the desert.

In the quarters, Maria will play No.6 seed Sara Errani of Italy. Maria has played Errani twice before and leads the series 2-0, here are the matches they have played against each other:
