Maria through to Indian Wells Final

Maria is through to her third final at the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells after she defeated No.13 seed Maria Kirilenko of Russia. Maria won 6-4 6-3 in an hour and 42 minutes.

Maria got the first break of the set when Kirilenko hit a shot wide. Maria served for the set at 5-4 and won the set when Kirilenko hit a shot long.

A backhand return that clipped the net gave Maria the first break of the second set to lead 4-3. After a long rally in the final game of the match, Maria hit a forehand down-the-line to break Kirilenko again to move through to her first final of 2013.

In Sunday’s final to be played at 12.00 PM local time (3.00 PM ET and 8.00 PM CET), Maria will play No.8 seed Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark. Maria has played Wozniacki six times before and leads the series 4-2. Here are the matches they have played against each other:
