Maria moves into third round in Paris

Maria finally completed her second round match at the French Open against Eugenie Bouchard of Canada. The match was postponed overnight due to rain and they completed four games today as Maria won 6-2 6-4 against the 19-year-old.

The match started at 6-2 4-2 40-Ad on Bouchard’s serve and Bouchard held her serve. In the next two games, both players held their serves comfortably. At 5-4 Ad-40 on Maria’s serve, Bouchard hit a shot long as Maria booked her spot in the last 32.

In Saturday’s third round match, Maria will play Zheng Jie of China. This match is the second match on Chatrier and the schedule of play begins at 11.00 AM local time. Maria has played the world no.43 three times before and leads the series 2-1, here are the matches they have played against each other:
