Maria moves into Madrid final

Maria is through to her second final of 2014 at the Mutua Madrid Open in Madrid, Spain after she defeated No.3 seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland. Maria won 6-1 6-4 in 68 minutes.

This is Maria’s 10th win in twelve meetings against the world No.3.

Maria started the match strongly as she broke in the first game when Radwanska hit a shot wide. Maria’s form continuted to be impressive as she broke Radwanska three more times to take the set 6-1 in only 23 minutes.

In the second set, Maria raced into another lead as she led 3-0, but the set proved to be more competitive than the first as Radwanska won four straight games to lead 4-3. Maria re-grouped and won three games in a row to book a spot in her second consecutive Madrid final.

In Sunday’s final to be played at 4.30 PM local time, Maria will play No.4 seed Simona Halep of Romania. Maria has played the 22-year-old twice before and leads the series 2-0. Here are the matches they have played against each other:
