Maria lights up New York City

Maria is through to the third round at the US Open in New York after she scored a comfortable 6-0 6-1 win over Lourdes Dominguez Lino of Spain. The match lasted only 54 minutes.

In the first set, Maria dropped only eight points as she had no problems in taking the set 6-0 in 21 minutes.

At the start of the second set, Maria dropped her first game against the Spaniard as Dominguez Lino held her serve in the second game. Maria then took five straight games to take the set and match.

In Friday’s third round match, Maria will play world no.252 Mallory Burdette of the United States. Maria has never played the 21-year-old before.
