Maria has continued her unbeaten record at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany as she advanced to the quarters. Maria defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia 6-4 6-3 in an hour and 32 minutes.
At the Porsche Arena, Maria has won ten matches dating back to Maria’s first appearance at this tournament in 2012.
Maria was broken in the opening game of the match and in the next game, Pavlyuchenkova held her serve to lead 2-0. From that point, Maria re-grouped and found her game as she won 10 of the next 13 games. Pavlyuchenkova broke Maria in the seventh game of the second set to get the set back on serve but Maria won the next two games to book her spot in the quarters.
