Maria into 3rd consecutive Miami final

Maria is through to the final of the Sony Open Tennis in Miami for the third consecutive year. In the semis, Maria defeated No.22 seed Jelena Jankovic of Serbia 6-2 6-1 in 63 minutes.

Maria has now won 11 consecutive matches – and all of the wins have been in straight sets.

In the first set, Maria won 10 of the first 11 points as she built a 3-0 double break lead. Jankovic broke Maria’s serve in the next game but Maria won three of the next four games to take the set 6-2 in 34 minutes.

Maria continued her form in the second set as she dropped only one game throughout the set. In the final game of the match, Maria broke Jankovic’s serve and won match point on a forehand winner to book her spot in her fifth Miami final.

In Saturday’s final to be played at 12.00 PM local time, Maria will play No.1 seed Serena Williams of the United States. Maria has played Williams thirteen times before and trails the series 2-11, here are the matches they have played against each other:
