Maria is through to the fourth round at the French Open in Paris after a 6-2 6-1 win over No.6 seed Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic.
The match lasted just 59 minutes as Maria scored her second top 10 win of 2018.
In the final game of the first set, Maria broke the Czech for the third time as Pliskova double-faulted on set point as Maria won the set 6-2 in 30 minutes.
The good form continued in the second set as Maria dropped only one game against the 6th seed as Maria adavnced to the last 16.
In Monday’s fourth round match, Maria will play Serena Williams of the United States. Maria has played the 36-year-old 21 times before and trails the series 2-19.
In the WTA rankings to be released after the tournament, Maria provisionally moves up to 26 with 1753 points.
