Maria advances to French Open 4th Round

Maria is through to the fourth round of the French Open in Paris after she defeated No.26 seed Samantha Stosur of Australia. Maria won 6-3 6-4 in an hour and forty minutes for her fifteenth win over the Australian.

Stosur got the first break of the match in the third game but Maria took control at that point as she won five of the next six games to take the set 6-3 in 40 minutes.

The second set took exactly an hour as one break in the seventh game by Maria decided the outcome. Maria stepped out to serve at 5-4 and won the set on her third match point when Stosur hit a forehand error.

In Sunday’s fourth round match, Maria will play No.13 seed Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic. Maria has played the 28-year-old five times before and leads the series 4-1. Here are the matches they have played against each other:
