Kvitova knocks Maria out of WTA Finals

Maria’s run at the BNP Paribas WTA Final in Singapore is over in the semis after being knocked out by Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic. Maria lost 3-6 6-7 in an hour and 49 minutes.

Two breaks decided the first set as Kvitova won it 6-3 in 41 minutes. In the second set, Maria led 5-1 but was unable to close it out as the set was decided by a tie-break which Kvitova won 7-3.

Maria will head to Prague to play the Fed Cup final against the Czech Republic in her next tournament. The final will be played the weekend of 14 and 15 November.
