This March 8th, the world will celebrate the 100th International Women’s Day.
While women have shattered many glass ceilings, there is still a long way to go.
Of those born into poverty, 60 percent are women. More than 30 million girls have no access to education, and at least one of three women has suffered some abuse in the course of her lifetime.
Studies reveal that educated, healthy, employed women break poverty cycles, not just for themselves but for their families and communities too.
So, as United Nations Development Programme Goodwill Ambassadors, I invite you to join me, Brazilian footballer Marta Vieira da Silva and Japanese actress Misako Konno to advance rights and opportunities for women everywhere, so we everyone wins.
