Due to an ongoing hip injury from Wimbledon and recent withdrawal from The Rogers Cup, Maria and Canadian snack company ThreeWorks® have postponed the Official Canadian launch of her fun, fashionable premium candy line Sugarpova.
“I’m extremely disappointed that I am unable to play in Toronto and launch Sugarpova,” said Maria in a statement. “I was looking forward to seeing my Canadian fans.”
Having already launched softly at select Canadian retailers, Maria Sharapova and ThreeWorks® were scheduled to launch Sugarpova on Thursday, August 1 at the Loblaws store at Maple Leaf Gardens* followed by an after party at Toronto hotspot The Spoke Club.
“Due to Maria’s injury, we think it’s important to postpone the launch for when she’s fully recovered says Michael Petcherski, CEO, ThreeWorks® Snacks & Chips. “Sugarpova and other ThreeWorks® brands are fun and playful and we want to ensure the event has the same feeling with Maria at her best. Postponing the launch will allow Maria to heal and give us the opportunity to make the fan experience even bigger and better.”
The VIP Experience Contest currently underway will still continue on ThreeWorks® social media. Winners will be selected to personally meet with Maria, courtesy of ThreeWorks® when she returns to Toronto for the Sugarpova launch. Details are available at www.threeworks.ca/meetmaria. As a gesture to her fans, Maria has also agreed to another VIP Contest to be held once the new launch date is released.
