Maria has maintained her unbeaten record in Doha as she won her 10th match in the Qatari capital. Maria defeated world No.172 Caroline Garcia of France 6-3 6-2 in the second round of the Qatar TOTAL Open.

The match lasted an hour and 16 minutes as she played an opponent who took her to three sets in their previous match. Maria won the first set on her third set point as Garcia netted a backhand. In the second set, Maria won the match on third match point when Garcia hit a forehand wide.

Maria's first serve percentage was 68% as she won 74% of points on first serve and 57% of points on second serve. Maria served 5 aces.

In Thursday's second round match, Maria will play either No.16 seed Sloane Stephens of the United States of Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic.
