Sony Ericsson, sponsor of the WTA, has offered all fans of Maria Sharapova the chance to fulfill their dream and enjoy a master class in the heart of Madrid.

It has installed a full size tennis court at the spectacular location of Madrid's Plaza de Callao. In the past, Sony Ericsson has surprised lovers of tennis with matches in unusual settings such as a subway platform in Madrid, a hotel swimming pool in New York, on top of a car on a road in Miami and at a desert island in Doha.

On this occasion, Sony Ericsson has taken it to another level and in conjunction with the celebration of this year's Madrid Open it has given five of Maria's biggest fans the opportunity to fulfill a life long dream of playing against the superstar athlete and getting a master class from their idol.

The five lucky fans have been selected through a Facebook competition in which they had to answer the following question:

'Why should we choose you to play tennis with Maria Sharapova?' The entrants with the most original ideas have been chosen to participate in this unique experience.

Speaking at this incredible event, Maria Sharapova commented:

"This is such an amazing competition to be involved in, as I love Madrid and the people of Spain always make me feel very welcome. It is great working with Sony Ericsson as they help me keep in touch with my millions of fans through my Xperia Arc handset."

Moreover, the participants involved have been surprised by the closeness and friendliness of Maria.

One participant commented:

"Although it was very nerve wracking playing in front of so many people and with Maria it was truly the experience of a lifetime. Maria was lovely and very friendly; I'm very appreciative that Sony Ericsson gave fans the chance to meet their idol Maria Sharapova."
