Maria has signed a three-year deal to
become Porsche's first ever brand ambassador.
Porsche has chosen Maria to head up its new a global
communications campaign, which will begin at this
week's Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart. Maria is no
stranger to the German sports car manufacturer, having taken
home one of their 911 Carrera S Cabriolets after winning
last year's tournament.
"Maria Sharapova is an exceptional athlete. She combines top
performance in her sports with elegance and power," Porsche CEO
Matthias Mueller said at Monday's press conference. "These are
precisely the qualities that are embroiled in our sports cars.
"Maria is the perfect choice. Her profile and charisma are an
ideal fit for Porsche. She is also highly respected around the
world and enjoys an outstanding reputation."
Sharapova, who already has sponsorships deals in place with
Nike, Cole Haan, Evian, Tag Heuer and Samsung, was similarly
delighted to join the Porsche team. "This is a really special day
for me. I have had the privilege to be associated with some of the
best brands in the world, but now to be partners with Porsche, is
such an amazing honor," she said.
