Beijing Singles Draw

The draw for the China Open in Beijing has been released and Maria is seeded No.2 and will face Simona Halep of Romania in the first round. Maria has played Halep once before at Indian Wells this year in the third round and won 6-3 6-4.

The first seed Maria can meet is No.13 seed Maria Kirilenko of Russia in the third round.

Beijing is a premier mandatory event played on hardcourts and is Maria's final WTA event before the last event of the year at the TEB BNP Paribas WTA Championships on October 23rd. Maria has played Beijing four times before and her best result was reaching the semis in 2004 and 2005. Maria didn't play last year.
