Ok, a year has passed by since Maria won from Li Na in this remarkable final. Will she do it again this year ?? Not so sure if Maria has the motivation at this moment to beat them all again. Let's see if Serena is in her way again or can she surprise this time ? When will her match be played ? Tuesday or Wednesday.

Maria is showing a great performance this year, Even I think it's better than 2012. 2013's clay court season is going as well as 2012, You know Maria's best result in Madrid was QF last year , But this year she improved it to final.Had a good season in hard courts too.
But only and the biggest problem is Serena Williams , Which she couldn't solve it yet.
Rome will be a big challenge for No.1 spot and Masha's confidence, Maria is a clever girl,I believe Serena's lies will not affect her motivation, cause she knows what's going on about Serena ;)

This is what Philli wrote but with TWO DAMNED TOURNEY-THREDS it's difficult to post !!!!

PHILLI already saw it earlier...this is what she wrote and i agree !!!

"There's something else too. This is either the second or third tournament this year where Venus has pulled out because she was drawn in the same half as Serena and likely to meet her in the third or fourth round. Now who's controlling that? I suspect Serena is in charge. I think it was The AO. If venus had played through to the third round and then pulled out before their 4th round meeting, people would have become very suspicious. There was only one thing for it... pull out before the tournament got past the first round., which Venus did"

Even a Brit mouthpiece on al-Jazeera intimated, "There's something odd about beating Venus so easily."

Kvitova & Serena Win, Radwanska Out

Petra Kvitova rallied to edge Sabine Lisicki while Serena Williams beat Laura Robson for some family revenge. Agnieszka Radwanska couldn't make it past a very tenacious Romanian, though.

Kvitova's Revenge, Cadantu Up Next

The first three second round matches took place at the Italian Open on Tuesday, with two of the Top 8 seeds taking the court moving through but one of them crashing out.

Petra Kvitova, the No.8 seed, was the first of the favorites to play, suffering a mid-match letdown - she lost nine of 10 games after winning the first set to drop the second set at love and fall behind 3-1 in the third - but regrouping just in time to close Sabine Lisicki out in overtime in the decider, 6-4 0-6 7-5.

"In the beginning of the second set I hit a really easy ball into the net in the first game, and I think I was thinking about it too much - I couldn't stop thinking about it," Kvitova said. "Sabine was serving very well in the second set and not making any mistakes, so it was really tough for me, but in the third I was really fighting hard and believing in myself. Fortunately I broke back and got back into it and won.

"This is a really tough tournament from the first round - you need to be ready for every point."

The next favorite to play wasn't so fortunate -Aganieszka Radwanska,  the No.4 seed, won a 58-minute first set but fell behind early in the second set and never found her rhythm again, losing to Simona Halep, 6-7(2) 6-1 6-2. Radwanska had won all three of their previous meetings routinely in straight sets.

"It was an incredible match for me," Halep said afterwards. "The first set was difficult - I just wanted to hit the ball very strong, but it wasn't working too well. From the second set I was playing much more tactically and it worked better. She's a top player and plays very well so I'm very happy to win."

Halep's win over the World No.4 is her first win over a Top 5 player and second Top 10 win overall - she beat Li Na, who was ranked No.6 at the time, in the first round of the US Open two years ago.

At night, No.1 seed Serena Williams got some family revenge with a 62 62 win over Laura Robson- the day before, Robson put Venus Williams out of the tournament in the first round in straight sets.

"It went well," Williams said. "It was a good match - she played really well and really smart. She's just a great player and I think she has such a big future, and I really like her as a person, too."

"She's No.1 in the world for a reason," Robson said. "She played really well today. She didn't give me many opportunities. I thought it could have been a little bit closer - I had some break points I didn't take advantage of - but it was a learning experience and hopefully I'll play against her again soon."

Williams has now won 20 matches in a row since falling to Victoria Azarenka in the final of Doha in February. The World No.1 has collected titles in Miami, Charleston and Madrid through that streak.

"I've played lots of matches, but I'm the kind of player who likes to keep playing matches, at least now in my career," Williams said of her current streak. "I just want to keep the confidence there."

It is a shame that Venus didn't defeat Serena ...
