The victory which made Maria a real Champion in tennis.
Thanks for the post. Maria will once again beat Serena is the same or similar fashion. Just give her just a little more time, I guarantee it will happen.
The world star of tennis, Olympic runner up Maria Sharapova visited the Russian capital on Tuesday where she signed a new sponsorship deal with Samsung electronics. A quick reminder Maria Sharapova finished the season on a positive note by reaching the final of the WTA championships in Istanbul. She also completed a career Slam after she appeared unrivaled in Paris where she won the only missing Grand Slam title – Roland Garros.
Maria was given the privilege of carrying the national flag at the opening ceremony of the 2012 summer Olympics in London where she by the way won silver medal. At the press conference arranged by Samsung Electronics company Maria spoke about the results she had displayed in this Olympic year. As I have already said she stroke a new deal with Samsung Electronics.
Jay Sul Yu who is the Vice President of Samsung Electronics in Russia was very happy to see the 4time Grand Slam holder in Moscow.
I would like to congratulate Maria on achieving brilliant results; she played splendidly during the entire season and delivered great tennis at the WTA final championship in Istanbul. Maria is on the rise, she is moving in the right direction and I believe her biggest victories lie ahead. I hope she will clinch all of the Grand Slam titles in one year, this is not my personal wish but the wish of the Russian tennis federation. I want to thank Masha for her intense work and fantastic results. She was named number one tennis player in Russia but undoubtedly she is the best athlete in the world.
This is what she had to say about her success at the French Open
When I won Roland Garros this year I didn’t expect I would experience so deep and overwhelming emotions that fully absorb you. I thought no victory could be compared with my Wimbledon title that I earned at the age of 17. This triumph came as a great surprise because I had never thought I could grab a Grand Slam being such a young and inexperienced player. But when I managed to win in Paris after such a serious injury I realized this was a unique victory that will stick in my memory forever.
For a long time Maria Sharapova cooperated with Michael Joyce, but in 2011 she split up with her long-time coach and started working together with the Swedish specialist Thomas Hogstedt. Maria commented on the changes in her team in the following way.
I’ve changed my coach, for seven years I worked together with Michael Joyce but we parted ways because I realized I need a push, a breath of fresh air to develop. When Thomas Hogstedt came he said he believes in me, in my power and potential he convinced me that together we would be able to win a Slam. Of course I liked this approach. He radiates positive energy that helps me to play.
Undoubtedly Maria Sharapova is not intending to stop on what she has already achieved and she hopes to extend her rich collection of awards. This is what she had to say about her plans for the next year.
Before this season I said that Olympic Games in London would be my top priority. Next year I think I will concentrate my efforts on performing well at Wimbledon.
