The theme of the last two majors has been players ending droughts. At the French, Maria wins her first GS in 4 years. Nadal ends a 7-match losing streak to Djokovic. At Wimbledon, Serena ends a 2-year major streak. And Federer wins his first in 2 and a half years.

Though, I have to say, this Wimbledon on the ladies' side was the most disgusted I've ever felt at a major in years. I still can't believe how it unfolded the way it did. For a brief moment, right after the French, I dared to think that Serena's time may have been nearing it's end. Especially with the rise of Kvitova and Azarenka over the past year and the return of Maria. But what a naive fool I was. We're going to be haunted by Serena for years to come. At this point, it wouldn't shock me to see Serena still playing and winning majors after Maria retires, even if Maria plays until 29 or 30. She's like a cockroach.

I'm pretty sure Vika, Petra and Aga will be retired before the time Serena hangs up her racket....

Someone just get rid of her already.... she's such a cow.

Wait what? My friend Frida dont make such assumptions!  What do you mean spain and serbia dont know what "fairplay" means? That is quite harsh dont you think? I mean I am not serbian and I support Djokovic, he is my guy, but I always respect Rafa and Roger. In fact I was supporting Roger for this final and I am very glad he won, but that doesnt mean that no one outside of England should support Andy Murray... that is too harsh!

I respect all top ATP players and most of them show amazing respect to each other. Sure there are days where things do not look so pretty but that is not a Serbia or a Spain or a Swiss thing.

But like I said I am glad Roger won, but at the post match interview I couldnt help but feel Andy Murray (he couldnt hold his tears, was so emotional...), the guy is trying so hard but the top 3 are always a step ahead of him.

Congrats to Roger.

As for the Williams sisters and Serena's win, sorry, but I just dont buy it. One tournament she is like "oh oh I cant move, I have to withdraw", then I am losing at the first round from Razano and suddenly I play 7 matches in 5 days and I am awesome and super cool. Yeah ok... nothing "suspicious" going on there...

By the way, has anyone noticed Serena's legs lol? When she retires from tennis she could easily go and compete at some body building contest lol...

Well Manrena is playing in Stanford then going back to London to train.

Okay, i don't care what anyone says, she's on something. She played 12/13 matches in 2 weeks (7 singles, 5 doubles) - or maybe its 6 doubles, i dont know.

Now she's going to stanford, which is this week, then she's going back to london to compete.

Like seriously.......

I have nothing left to say

Aga played so well; im very impressed. The way she completely capitalised on Serena's 2nd set blowout come as a complete shock to me. Shame she couldn't maintain that level in the 3rd set.

Although, i really do think if you took away Manrena's serve, she definitely wouldnt have as many GS titles as she does.

OFF TO THE OLYPMICS!

I think that like so many others I wrote off Radwanska. She actually had she-man worried when she came back in the second. The crowd were behind aggy, and I have to admit I was impressed with her will, considering her lack of firepower against THAT serve. Of course it was the serve that got she-man back on track. But maybe there IS a place for the sort of game that radwanska plays. Maybe its NOT all about power. I'd like to see maria develop that side of her game, its not too late.

As for super-bore murray, TBH he was good for a set and a half and then federer took over.  So two 30 years olds win wimbledon.....who saw THAT coming???

There definitely is a place for Agi's style of play. You saw the problems she gave Serena with the off-speed stuff, even on grass. And Wozniacki beat Serena earlier this year and took her to 3 sets in another matchup. And Razzano beat her with limited power. There's a reason Serena has only won one French and has been pretty much no factor there for the past 10 years since her victory there. She struggles when her power is reduced. Her game is basically 80% serve and 20% big ground strokes. Despite her doubles success, she still has an extremely mediocre net and off-speed game.  Not a great volleyer either.  She and Venus win in doubles with brute force, just like singles.  There's nothing special at all about their billion doubles titles.  And that's why I don't consider the beast to be nearly the all-time player so many sycophants in the media do.  She'd be nothing without her serve.

However, therein lies the problem with players like Maria, Petra, and Vika.  Serena loves their pace and will out-bludgeon any of them because those 3 refuse to develop an off-speed game that can effect Serena.  And they'll continue to lose to her because of their stubborness.  In Maria's case, I remember when she was still 18 and 19 and thinking it'll be the time when she brings in those extra aspects to her game in the off-season and really become a complete player.  But it still hasn't happened.  She's had years and years to develop a reliable slice or a decent drop shot.  Seriously, Maria might have the worst dropper in the history of tennis.  I cringe every time she attempts one.  I swear it pops into the air about 20 feet every time.  And Maria looks scared and lost at the net.  So, it's a shame, but I just don't have any more hope Maria will expand her game in that direction at this point.  But it doesn't mean she still can't win, as we've just seen.
