Well, we haven't saw any video of her practicing. So we are completely blank right now. Hope her ankle feels fine, because if not, she needs to rely on her 1-2 punch. And her serve. Hope that it's alright!

God Bless Maria Sharapova!

I also searched for videos these past days of Maria practicing but without any luck... I am still on the hunt though!

Doesnt matter anyway, all I hope is that she is going to win! :)

Maria plays surprisingly well !!!! No matches played in the last 4 weeks, all credits for her performance !! Unfortunately , yet again she is not able to take the break points and playing under pressure is not her favorite thing to do. All together not a bad performance at all , have high hopes she will defeat Na Li. On the other hand Na has a bone to pick with Thomas so let's see who will win. Ankle injury is no longer a issue.  An applause for Maria, her determination is world class !!!

So I'm usually very sad/upset after a loss but that one was heart breaking. So many opportunities. Her chance for world end #1 is over, right?

I'm stupid for thinking that it could be done so miraculously but it would have definitely been nice. I hope that she can pull it together for tomorrow. Very sluggish game but she has played so few matches. I hope she is out of her funk after that loss.

She won't get in a funk. Got Sasha, Thomas, Volchkov & the physio around her.

Return after Injury was all. And--I rarely say this--Sam had a lotta luck.

You people do realize that this isn't Masha's only chance to be number 1 right? She has no points to defend from here on out till Indian Wells. Chillax. She is still probably going to succeed with number 1. I hope she does, i am sick of Wozniacki's bitchy remarks about "being number 1 for a really long time, more than a year". I am almost positive wozniacki will crumble. Yay :) Masha's fine. Stosur got lucky with Masha being injured. She shouldn't worry to much on her condition right now. The press is going to exaggerate a lot of her stats, like making 6 double faults sound like 20. It would however, be cool if she went on to the semis, but i see that unlikely with azarenka :/ Oh well. A loss to any player right now doesn't really signify anything. Why can't it be 2012 already?

Peace and love.

Hi, Freedom. As on a given day, any top ten player can beat any other top ten player (sometimes that is top 20), I don't give a lotta weight to "number one" anyway. But you are right, 2011-2012 makes no difference. And especially as the central identity of 2012 is the Olympic Year. At London, no one much cares who is ranked what or what tournaments they've won. She should look at everything first as being in training for the next ten months.

Young Turkish player Cagla Büyükakçay (I call her "Boo" ) doing an exo on a car ferry on the Bosphorus.

The Istanbul Cup used to conduct one on the Bogazi Bridge so the balls went back & forth between Europe & Asia.

So...Sam finally got to beat Maria! I didn't get to watch the match but from reading the posts here and front page, it sounded like Maria was rusty in the first set and fought hard in the second with a lot of lost chances. Win or lose, Maria should be happy she is even there to play considering the extent of her injury to the ankle. Hopefully after this tournament she would have a long rest before Australia. That said, Maria is a fighter and will not give up till the end. In her best form, she can easily beat Na Li who hasn't won a match since Roland Garros. Not too sure about Vika though.

Well, well!! I didn`t expect Maria to win coz I know it must be tough to come back in a VERY short period of time from ANKLE injury.

I`m ok with whatever outcome and I think it`s great that she can play right now so she can better prepare for next year!!!

How does this actually work? What happens if Maria won or lost the next 2 matches?

Briefly, win the next two (hopefully in straight sets), there is a chance she can make the semis.

Lose another one, she is probably out.

That's the downside of coming back from injury. Out of sync, needs to adjust But very quick.....

Maria Sharapova _is_ about family! Maria your family loves you and wants the best for you in all ways. Maria stay positive and you will get what you want in this lifetime and in heaven. Maria Sharapova your the real deal.

Maria your a world class tennis player and better looking than actors and super models. Micheal J Fox played a teenager and you could act in movies if you want. Playing sports is more difficult than acting. One reason is no retakes. Maria your giving to your fans on and off the tennis court. Maria your better than Anna Kournikova and the number one tennis player in my heart. It takes a lot of effort to be on the world stage. Maria you and your family have god on your side. God bless your family and your fans Maria Sharapova.
