and now she doesn't play the CUP...no, don't like that. Dunno if she'll make it to the YEC...???
In her whole tennis career Maria played Moscow just ones I think. She doesn't like the tournament nore the Russians.

In fact, a sprained ankle with a month to recover is not very much IMO.

Of course she'll play Istanbul.

Shamil said yesterday: "Maria will not participate in the Moscow tournament and the Federation Cup final this year against the Czech Republic" said Tarpischev. "But we have an arrangement with Sharapova's about meeting with Spain, so she comes to the national team in February."

Which will also be in Moscow Olympic Stadium. What Maria MAY very well NOT like is the sticky RuKort surface--which is a real ankle-turner.

As for the preposterous assertion she doesn't like her people--just believe whatever you find convenient at the moment. That is so American, BTW.

Championat says Vera now qualified.

Zvonareva qualified for the final tournament of the year in Istanbul

Russian woman Vera Zvonareva qualified for the final tournament of the year in Istanbul. She became the sixth player to hit at securing a final competition. Previously, this right is achieved Dane Caroline Wozniacki , Russian woman Maria Sharapova , Czech Petra Kvitova , Belarusian Victoria Azarenka and Chinese Li Na . Thus, the fate of two more trips will be determined in the last two weeks of the season in a tournament in Linz, Osaka, Moscow, and Luxembourg. 2011 title race.

1. Caroline Wozniacki - 7395. 2. Maria Sharapova - 6370. 3. Petra Kvitova - 5691. 4. Victoria Azarenka - 5590. 5. Li Na - 5351. 6. Vera Zvonareva - 5190. 7. Samantha Stosur - 4975. 8. Agnieszka Radwanska - 4940. 9. Andrea Petkovic - 4580. 10. Marion Bartoli - 4455.

Let's see if Radwanska and Petkovic both play in Linz to battle for the points again. They both will be exhausted . Expect one of them to pull out, let's hope this will be Radwanska as she is only faiking an injury.

Draw sheet shows Petko withdrawn from Linz per "right knee injury".

Radwanska is scheduled to play Moscow.

I am more worried about how fit she is going to be to push 100%. I am sure she will be there, but at what % is the main question. I hope that she can be ready to win it not just participate in it.

She'll be there, but she'll not be fit enough to win this.

Yup...That was nice to see on the front page!!! I think she will be fit enough too, because I bet she gets at least a full week at full speed to train for it! I also bet that she will be very motivated, knowing that she has anoutside shot at ending the year at #1!

Masha is my #1!!

I am releaved to read on Maria's facebook that she has arrived in Istanbul ! Close to Sasha , she has over a week to prepair for the YEC. I expect a lot during this last tournament of the year for Maria. Remember the final in 2007 ?? Wowww, that was a great match. Unfortunately she lost by a few points from Justine, who ??? By the way; Interesting to see that this will be Maria's first indoor tournament of the year. Must bring luck !!!

It is time for Masha to concentrate on her tennis. At the moment her Dad Yuri is the only good support for her. Only a kiss of Yuri can make Masha a champion.

I give the mark A+ to Yuri.

Oh yeah about that, I didn't know thery are sponsors too, I guess they realized that Caroline ain't that popular.

Anyway I really hope that Maria can win this, Doha was like a torture and all that chauvinist crap from Aljazeera commentators.

We all know there is many of Bin Hammam(s) in the WTA, but as long as they have the money and don't make any threat, they are clean.

I hope u understand this is what Baron de Coubertin said about THE OLYMPICS and sports in

general. I still agree the most important is "to compeat and to have a good battle even if u loose".

The original phrase in French is indeed somewhat different but the spirit remeans the same.

If u call this bullshit be free to do so, i call this very wise words.

Let's hope Maria is not in the same group as Kvitova and Radwanska. They are on the roll at this moment.
Caroline will not be in the same group as Maria , so let's go for Sam, Victoria and Na.
When will the draw be out ?

Hi, Brebis.  Maybe not before Sunday, as the last spot is still undertermined. From WTA:

Caroline Wozniacki, Maria Sharapova, Petra Kvitova, Victoria Azarenka, Li Na, Vera Zvonareva and Samantha Stosur are already in the singles field.

Agnieszka Radwanska and Marion Bartoli are contesting the eighth and final singles spot in the finale, but it is an uphill battle for Bartoli - she needs to follow up her Osaka title with this week's Moscow title, and she will also require Radwanska to fall before the quarterfinals of Moscow this week. Whichever of the two doesn't make the cut will join Andrea Petkovic as the two alternates.
