Brebis....Maria was her usual conference self at that conference. They only showed a short segment. Depends on the questions they ask. I think she is just bored with the same old questions and just want to get out of there.

As for Kuzi, yes, I agree. She ALWAYS has that look. I like her style of play but I don't want to see her win today.

On paper, Maria looks like she can take the cup BUT it all depends on Maria. How much does she want it? Will her serve let her down YET AGAIN?? We shall see. One game at a time. Overall, I think she hasn't been too happy within herself since Wimbledon. Brebis could be right. She is missing Sasha on the stands and just being around her.

Come on, Maria! We all behind you and believe in you! We want to see you play like you did in Rome.

It really is a bad, pathetic joke. I eriously urge everyone to stop giving any hits in wta.com website. This as close as directly insulting ones intelligence as it can get. They are acting as if God himself withdrew from tennis today...its completely nuts! "Shock this!" "shock that"!

Seriously what the hell? Are they so frigging desperate to promote her? Is she paying them? Cause if she is then I can simply relax because I can actually justify all this buttkissing... If you read the latest article it looks like an article that could easily have the title "Serena withdraws from Cincinati, we dont care what happens now (except McHale), the whole event should be canceled and we might not write anything else about it. See you all in USO..."

Pathetic to say the least...I am actually hoping McHale can have a good carreer cause these guys will probably live a life full of depression.... and if the unthinkable happens and a Russian (Maria!) wins the USO this year? Oh Lord.... I can already envision the article title:

"Maria Sharapova wins 2011 USO Grand Slam. Meh...."

Boycott is a pretty good idea, Val.  If one really needs WTA stats or something, you can do this: Google WTA & the first hit will show linx directly to OOPS, Draws, Player bios, Rankings, etc--WITHOUT ever hitting their main page or bullshit "news".

Agree--I have NO animus, even hold affection in some cases--for wildwoman Bethanie, for McHale, Riske, Stephens & other young Americans striving to honestly contend. Or most of the guys, either.

For the most part, they are not contaminated with the demented pretensions of hegemony attached to the symbols of Williams & Roddick. A few, like doubles specialists Vania King & Lisa Raymond, have implicitly distanced themselves from the corruption.

The bias consuming WTA is NOT even mainstream American opinion--rather the cold war politics of a geriatric country-club fringe. Unfortunately, in this moment of "tea party" brownshirts, you must not expect large numbers of my countrymen to call out this crap. It is the global tennis community that must demonstrate they're not gonna take it anymore.

^^ exactly Paul and thanks!

As you said it is us, the community that has to show them that the 70s and 80s are 30 years ago... and that there is no place for this kind of politics in a sport such as tennis.

I only hope that soon they will figure this out themselves, one way or another!

Hi Paul. I cant help noticing when the TV cameras scan the stadiums that attendence is pretty poor for the girls matches. I Know the early matches are always 'quiet', but it seems as though the interest on the later matches is just not there. German Eurosport said something about preposterously high prices for seats, but this is a combined Tournament and the majority of big names are present, both APT and WTA so it should be expected. I'm just wondering if more people than just us, realise how crooked the WTA has become and are turning away from it. I dont think the 'average' spectator cares about the back room intrigue so long as the tennis is good....but at the moment, that's simply not the case. The Matches are boring, lack-lustre and, sadly, slipping back to what 'girls' tennis was 35 years ago.

Thanks Kenn19 very interesting video

Ditto to Podge--thank you so much kenn19 for bringing this to our attention. (And welcome to the Sharapova forum!)

Now, the main question raised is: WHY DO YOU SEE THIS AT THIS TIME? BECAUSE, tennisforum to the contrary, it ain't just one crazy old man from Texas raising hell, hunh?

That said, there is another level where this is ESPN smokecreen to limit & channel the discussion.

We hardly need computer geeks to tell us "top seeds" get cake-walks. THAT much is obvious to the eye! ESPN will not even look at designed self-elimination to marginalize & exclude Eastern players (the "Russian Quarter") and a half-dozen other discriminatory devices (as much developed in Oz as the US BTW). Or even admit existence of the marginal yet growing issue of official misconduct on court.

Hey, think about it: USTA is a national tennis federation--by definition promoting the interests of the US tennis establishment alone. What is worse is the pattern of corruption pimped out through their creatures who run WTA & influence to a large extent ATP & even the ITF to some degree.

Hey, this kinda exposé is a start--just don't allow attention to end with that.

Hey, Philli They are very close to the end-game now--can't you feel it? The Amerikaans tennis establishment has always been resolved to destroy the sport before admitting to the fact of Eastern dominance. Here's the Yanks' plan: when the sisters are finished, the women's game is finished. Sure, they've been undermining it here for years on a dozen different levels.

That such must be the fact when we acknowledge the women's advertsing dollar far exceeds the men's. There is no financial basis for marginalizing the women.

There is nothing you can do to affect their box-office machinations in the States. But that has not been but a fraction of the audience for a long time. The sportsmedia of the emerging tennis powers--most particularly Sina-CCTV, NTV+ and al-Jazeera Sport should prepare to seize control of global transmission of the women's game.

We will not go back 35 years, as geriatric reactionaries want. Instead we're going to a whole new world.

Well theres no need for me to point it out but that was one of Maria's best matches OF THE YEAR, definitely up there with Rome. Her returns were amazing, her angles were amazing, her serving was decent and Kuznetsova just couldn't handle the power of Maria's shots. If Maria plays like this for the rest of the tourny, there is no doubt that Maria can lift the title. Overall great performance, I'm so proud for you and I'm in love with you even more! ALLEZ! Bring on Stosur!!!! Dancing

A stunner, an amazing performance simply awesome. A slap to all the nay-sayers of lately! Its Australian Open 2008 all over again!

This Maria is unstoppable. When she plays like this, with that much confidence no one can stop her. We are talking domination here. The angles the forehands the backhands, Maria was simply in God Mode tonight. Even Kuznetsova clapped a lot of her points. And how could she not? I mean point after point Maria wowed the crowd and all of us watching from our crappy streams.

This match is going to do wonders to Maria's confidence, it could be a real turning point if she keeps going as strong. The most exciting match of Masha in quite some time. You could see her game was in top level simply by the way she hit the ball. AO 2008 all over again folks...

I will post the highlights as soon as I get them! And hopefully I can find the entire game somewhere inside this "internet" thing!

GO MARIA! *Valkyre is excited* :)

Very good match overall. Some great angles as you've said, surely the best she's played lately. If there's something negative to comment is that she didn't play as good (as throughout the match9 during her last service game, but her returning game was superb. Let's hope she keeps playing better with every match.

Awesome, stunning, brilliant, fantastic.....I could go on. Maria played her best tennis tonight and without doubt has gained so much confidence she is not afraid to take on the likes of Stosur and beyond. I wish more supporters will come on the forum and post supporting remarks when she plays well rather than only come to knock her and calling her names when she loses.

I have always believed in you, Maria. I knew you would pick yourself up when you fall. Can't wait to watch you play Sam tomorrow.

I am working on finding a way to download the entire match. I will keep you posted if I come up to something. For the time being here is the coin toss of the match.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BW4Or2ziH94

PS: Would be great if the admin or some mod could actually enable video embedding in the forum. It would be much easier for people to navigate the forum while watching the videos without redirecting them to youtube or other websites.
