When I saw the draw, my first thought was that Paul won't like this one bit!!!! I'm not sure what draw Sunstreet is looking at, but that's a very tough draw!! Dani and then Serena!!! Dani is playing very well these days and Serena is, well, Serena!! The other sections, look considerably easier to me. Well Masha often plays well when she has a tough draw. Dani will be a tough opening match!

Well, sunstreet makes some points, yeah. Like I said, I'm throwing out "another angle"--namely this designing of draws. This has now become pervasive. I guess since Yanks to it, we're all supposed to just roll over & even pretend nothing has changed, when over the last few years, we've watched the corruption escalate before our eyes.

^^ does that mean that we have a chance to see Maria's match from that stream as well come the 27th of July?

I really want to watch Maria's games and tennistv simply looks like a scam...

This appliance may be shut down when main draw starts--Yankee broadcasters take the attitude that if they have rights to show anything (like Stadium 1 Fri thru Sun), then they can disallow anyone from watching anything else. And WTA & USTA want the world to see nothing but Williams sisters if they can avoid it.


That said, as long as the in-house streams run, we can see a lot now. The courts other than 1, 6, 4 & whatever show qualies, the rest are available for practice. Also the Taub South Courts. Last time Masha played there, we caught her practicing a couple of times. Also Kirilenko & others. No way to know when, just gotta surf--I suggest late afternoon, early evening.


TennisTv IS a scam. Over three years it's gotten more & more crooked. Sevedral of us here have had bad experience. And the product has deteriorated over that time too.

hope i will not miss every detail of Stanford.. i need to see some more moves since i was about to start my training! 0_O i want to see her win this title again! seeing Goerges again is nice.. weep weep!!!!

Thanks for the info Paul much appreciated. I guess we will have to wait and hopefully, see something. In fact, Maria's latest entry states that she is going to have a late night practice today, so maybe we could get a glimpse of her...

You are welcome, valkyrie. Okay, "late night" may not mean all that late Pacific time.  What it MAY mean (based on past experience) is that several players have reserved time on Stadium Court (1) after the qualies. Start checking after about 7pm (19:00 PDT local) (02:00 Mon GMT).

Last year during main draw, besides Stadium 1, courts most used for practice were 4, 5 & 6. Now there are also the six "Taube South" courts, which we haven't seen before.

20:00 PDT. Stadium1 is quiet but all the lights are on.  


Ditto Cts 4, 5 & 6. Not even anyone around where the temporary bleachers cover courts 2 & 3, Will monitor for an hour or so.  


21:00 PDT Activity on Stadium1, but looks like maintenance...


23:10 PDT Far as I know, all that's gone on was washing of the courts. I'm about to call it a night. See if there are streams tomorrow.  There should be Live Streams for CitiOpen in DC, anyway.


08:30 AM PDT. A girl comes out to practice on Stadium1. Not Masha. Looks familiar but I can't immediately identify her. Another joins her--a blonde...

Some action going on at the moment in taube stadium courts. Some players are doing warm ups and I got a glimpse of Maria (at least I think it was Maria because the camera aint so close to the court and not good quality. But she is tall and has the classic ponytail, so it must have been her)

You are prolly right although I was watching her serve and the motion looked like Maria's (with the feet and all). But it is indeed very far away from the camera and you cant tell. If they change ends we will find out.

She has the hardest possible draw.
If she gets past Hantuchova she will have
Serena next I guess.( or Kirilenko, and I remember how it was with
that one as she got kicked out ).

As for the draw I have nothing to add... seriously I can understand the ratings up to a point but...really...this is not fair at all. Other seeds are having a breeze to the semis, Maria needs to work HARD for it.

Exactly she has to work hard for it, as she allways does, and that´s why i think it´s a great draw. There´s something to build on, which is great. I´m so looking forward to see Maria out there again, although i don´t know why all the television networks has decided to broadcast almost nothing at all from this years tournament...
Well i think Maria will do great, and i wish her the best of luck in tonights match, Daniela is a great oponent to start out with.
