Game , set and match ! Did not see a single point as Dutch tv is not broadcasting night matches and BBC is showing Isner-Mahut. Anyway , Maria in round 2 and for those who saw the match, please give me an update. See you all again on Thursday.

Pretty impressive match from Maria. Anna had her moments but couldn't match Maria's level. 4DFs from Maria. Could have been the wind but she must work hard to try to work with wind.

Maria didn't work terribly hard, particularly in the second set. She knew she'd win and had no investment in beating Chaki down. Many of the games went to deuce, sometimes several.

So, we saw Maria dismiss Chaki. (If watching only ESPN2 a whole big 15 mins of it). And you know about this unforgivable contrivance tomorrow, Wednesday:

No. 2 Court 2nd match

Ladies' Singles - 2nd Round

Elena Vesnina(RUS) vs. Vera Zvonareva(RUS)[2]

But did you notice what's hidden in the dark? Nastia, who was first obliged to get rid of Tsurenko, the only Ukrainian allowed thru the qualifying draw...

Court 14 4th match

Ladies' Singles - 2nd Round

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova(RUS)[14] vs. Nadia Petrova(RUS)

and y'gotcha doubles...

Court 8 4th match

Ladies' Doubles First Round

  Vitalia Diatchenko(RUS) /     Vera Dushevina(RUS) /

  Maria Kondratieva(RUS) vs.  Ekaterina Makarova(RUS)

It's all about disposing of as many Russians as early as possible--preferably outta sight

I wasn't able to watch the match today, but I happy that Maria won comfortably it's always great in the first round of a GS. I wish the best for Maria!

Nice for Stephanie to make the main draw, though likely she will be in tough to get anywhere after that.

So, not Tuesday, but Stephanie's is the next delayed match to come up Wednesday, so maybe...

Good win considering her first match on grass but still she needs to be careful with those Dfs.

Not match to talk about but glad she won. We will have to see how she plays against a more challenging opponent to really see how ready she is.

Very solid win by Maria!!!! Anna did not push her that much and Maria dominated most of the match standing between the service line and the base line, while Chaky tried to defend from well behind the baseline. 4 DF's is a bit worrisome, but......... Nice to see Chaky back. Anyhow, next!!!!!!! Stosur going out has really opened up this quarter for Maria to meet the Princess in the quarter-finals. Don't see anybody stopping her to that point, but one match at a time of course!!!
I wonder if Canada has ever had 4 players make it to the second round of a major before??? Wow!!! Go Canucks!!! Too bad for Aleks Woz, as she played a poor match from the looks of it (8 DF's, lots of errors) but was still very competitive in both sets. Wasn't expecting Stephanie Dubois to make the second round, but she'll be toast against Petko I'm pretty sure. Milos plays Gilles Muller, which will not be an easy match and the reward if he wins is a crack at Rafa in the third!!!
GO MARIA!!!!
Masha is my #1!!

Don't think Maria will play tomorrow. Very much delayed for today's matches. Rain, rain, rain, rain !!
Maria might need to play Friday and Saturday.

Good to see Maria go through.....now it gets tougher. Both Williams sisters have been through tough 3 setters now, my bet is they will BOTH be there at the end, unfortunately.....

Unfortunately Maria needs to wait a long time again for her match to start. Without rain delays expect Maria to start her match after 6 pm !  Oeps, Caroline after Court 1 , a court 2 tomorrow. Slowly going downhill.  I must say that the organisers of Wimbledon do not show fair treatment. There are more men's matches on Centre Court and Court 1 then ladies matches.  Let's see if this is changing during the week.

What can I say? There is a lotta jerking around going on.

ESPN2 is clearly hearing the chatter about the phony-assed draw & scheduling. During Vera & Elena's meet this evening, (showing only the tiebreak) they even made excuses: "Well, they've played many times over the years, long before Vera was top ten, blah, blah, blah..." Well, explain WHY they've played each other MORE since Vera rose & their rankings diverged, hunh?

ESPN2 Thursday will of course start out doting on Serena, then fold into a bit of Djoker. I won't be watching. Assuming a Court 16 stream, I'll be watching Gorgeous Görges -- or checking out Barbora's bottom on Court 3. WAY more enticing than the Incredible Bulk!

They CLAIM they'll show Masha play Robson, but you know that means only if it goes badly for Maria. Otherwise they'll shift all coverage to Roger. The Witches are hoping for a "raucous" crowd. What's that mean at Wimbledon--somebody spill their tea? lol

Maria be carefull not to antagonize the crowd, do not question any calls, smile, be friendly. The crowd will be waiting for any thing to turn big time agaist you, Laura Robson is the only hope for England's Women's tennis players. Remember the second round in Paris against the local favorite, it went to 3 sets mostly because the crowd was against you.

No worries. Maria is used to that over the years. I think the English crowd also like Maria. If she isn't playing Laura, they would be rooting for her especially against Wozy.

By the way, Laura is not the only Brit girl left. Elena Baltacha still playing.

Maria knows how to handle a crowd. It cannot be any worse than how the French treated her in '08.
Grrrr.

Unfortunately I had to drive 3 hours work for 3 hours and then drive back today, so I missed all the Canucks going out!!! Looks like Stephanie acquited herself respectfully enough, which will be great for her confidence. The same likely won't be the case for Rebecca Marino, losing to Vinci, and Milos is hopefully not seriously injured......

Anyhow, Masha tomorrow against Laura Robson tomorrow. Hope we don't see any heroics from the young Brit, as Masha should really dispatch her relatively easily, but...... I watched a bit of Venus and Kimiko before leaving this am and Venus loked very rusty and out of shape, not mention the incredibly ugly outfit!!!!! Well, come on Maria! You can do it!!!

Masha is my #1!!

Next round: Kirilenko vs Serena, Beauty & the Beast

Tsonga & Dimitrova in first game on Court 1 when Rain came.  Hope delay won't be long.

15:51:  Court 2 covers are off!  The sun appears to be out again and they have started to remove the covers on Court 2 at least.
