Hi Paul, Arantxa almost ran away from court after her match against Kutzi as she needed to catch her flight to London. Let's hope she will make it !!

No one knows .  I'm also curious to see what seeding they will give The Williams sisters. Esecially Serena. Still remember the match where Maria played her last year where she had set points in the first set. Maria is more confident this year and will win this time.Come on Maria this tourhament is yours!

GO MARIA!!!

...and the number 5 it is !!  Let's hope the Williams sisters are not in Maria half of the draw. Out of frustration ,I will not sleep for at least a week if Serana or Venus wins there match against Maria. Ps; It's very quiet in the Sharapova camp. Is she still around or did she go for a holiday ?

With Kim out, that shakes the draw up quite a bit. In the top half we will find, Caroline, Na Li, Maria, Serena, Marion Bartoli and Andrea Petkovic. Each will be the Major seed in a group of 8 players so they can expect to start coming into contact with other seeds by the Third round.... end of the first week or Monday the following week. No Tennis on Sunday in Wimbledon. Grand Slams are not supposed to be easy, if a player thinks they have a hard draw, they are in the wrong Tournament. Theoretically, Maria is in good shape and she should have gotten over her playing fatigue..disguised as an illness, by now. The major concern should be that she has had no match practice on grass. Hitting a few balls around on a practice court at the Church Road, does not count, and will not help her.

Upside is that Masha knows Wimbledon more intimately than anyone save the sisters. Might surprise some, but IMO the most serious grass threat (at this time) on your list is Bartoli. Meet Marion in the third, must remember what she's done there.

I gotta push a rant here and bawl out the Brit organisers. What right do they avail themselves to give Serena seed #7 and Venus seed#23. They are obliged to respect the ranking, don't they? If they think in their championship they can do whatever they want to and the WTA ranking means nothing, which I completely agree, in that case TPTB please suppress this ridiculous ranking and let each tournament including the GS dispose the draw the way they want to fit their public.

When Caroline Wozniacki is seed number1 in every tournament and gets ass kicked in the second or third round, it is a shame in the WTA world.

Well M-Lover I must agree with you but the Organizers claimed it was (1) to keep a balanced draw and (2) She is the reigning champion from 2010. Having said that, they gave Maria a seed on her comeback in 2009 when she was ranked 132, but she went out in the second round anyway.

And Paul, yes I agree with you. Marion is best remembered for her semi-final defeat of Justine in 2007 although she went on to lose in the Final.

I also fear they engage in knee-jerk scenarios based on scripted notions fobbed off on them by the commentariat. A 7th seeding of Serena at this time defies evidence visible to the eye.

This is a dangerous time. We saw today that LTA may have succumbed to corruption.

I hope we will be all right on Friday.  Because, let's face it: if we can't trust All-England, there is nobody left we can trust.  More, if they engage in some manipulation that damages the reputation of the club, the consequences would be severe through the Olympiad.

All-England Club must uphold a standard because everyone else has dropped it. If the gentlemen follow, there is no alternative than to beg the emerging tennis powers to entertain radical action--in the direction of new tournaments and separate tours.

And, dare one say it? Real "player organizations".

If they want to do Serena a favor b/c she's the defending champion, it's ok with me. And if I pursue that locgic, Serena should be seeded #1, no matter what WTA rank she has. But Venus? Because she won 5 titles in London? Ages ago, yes!

As regards Maria's whereabouts, it is reported today on the Official Wimbledon Homepage that she was out practicing on Court 14 at the Church Road yesterday. On the homepage here, there has been NOTHING and the Social doesn't appear to be working right now or has been switched off. I would have thought, by now, that she would be wanting to tell you all about her new earrings for Wimbledon and, of course, the new dress. Seems like she's not bothered about her fans anymore. She's always been like this after she takes a heavy defeat and is totally fatigued from playing too much and fakes an illness to miss out on tournaments. Incidently, this is the first time she hasn't played Birminghan since 2002. I remember a few years ago after she lost in the French Open, that there was nothing from her until AFTER the US Open.

For the 100th time Philli, there's no traction with the perjoratives. We all know it's fatigue--she even said as much. Just, "fatigue" is insufficient legal cause for withdrawal. It's gotta be "illness" & everybody does it.

And that's nothing. y'talk about "faked", recall that Serena's year-long disappearance began with the "Munich incident". Didn't you tell us the German press can find no evidence Williams was even in Munich?

There's bigger & deeper & smellier BS today than one can possibly shovel. On a relative scale, Masha is totally straight up!
