Today unfortunately, I wasn't able to watch Maria's match but I read about it and noticed that she had some trouble in the second set, 3-1 down, but she was able to overcame it and take the set 6-3. She play even better, but I happy with her performances and with the fact that she has been showing her amazing fight spirit to fight back in tough moments. Peng is a tough opponent, Maria has to play solid. If she beat Peng she will face another tough one C. Wozniacki or D.Cibulkova. Some great matches to watch!!

Maria's 4th round match will be on Monday or Tuesday?

A better display today from our girl. Of course she has to improve for next week but she has got through the 1st week without losing a set

With regards to Monday's order of play they should have put Serena back on court 2 lol

I agree throw Serena on Court 2 again. Maria doesn't complain and deserves Court 1 or Center court.......but maybe i'm just biased.

Perhaps we are slightly biased but Maria is a star attraction and should be on one of the top 2 courts. I think the commitee have buckled since Serena's complaining and it seems Maria has been used as the make-weight to keep the Williams Sisters (i was tempted to say Williams Brothers lol) happy

Leave Maria on court 2. She loves playing there. She said she gets good vibes from there and it worked today so let's hope the same for Monday. Did anyone see Maria asking the umpire something at the end of her match? I was just wondering if she asked her if she could take the towel with her as I saw her taking it away draped over her bag. She asked the ballboy first then she asked the umpire twice. Not sure what it was about. Maybe the towel is her good luck charm and she will bring it back on Monday to use again. I'll be watching out for that.

Your right, if she wins it doesn't matter what court she is on.

Hear that. I am good with Court 2. She compared it with the Bull Ring at RG.

This carping over courts is a HUGE mistake.  One might even say a BIG-ASSED mistake.

To be honest, Maria's game came out during the last 3 final games. It seems like "she won't raise" her level until she's down a break or something. Nobody knows what's going on in her mind. But then again, the "Champion's Instinct" would just kick in, and suddenly she's winning already.

Her opponents are getting tougher and tougher, not mentioning, Peng, who could retrieve a lot of ball, and can keep the ball deep. She needs good serving here, to make it easier for her to construct points.

By the way, against her match against Zakopalova, she's having a pretty hard time dealing with flat shots. But the serving was terrific though, imagine a 102 mph second serve? She's going for it as always, no doubt she's got high number of double faults.

Ksenia Pervak (unseeded) will play another (unseeded) player Tamira Paszek. Paszek winning a marathon 3rd set against Schiavone. Never thought young unseeded players will make it through the second week. But it's good to see that, especially Ksenia, a young Russian putting up a little show at the Championships.

Well, I wish Maria good luck and a much more better serving

Clarification: new Court 2 is not the "graveyard". Old court 2, the "graveyard of champions" is NOW new Court 3. New Court 2 is the other new stadium court farther on down.

Hi Paul, Didn't know that sorry . I tought court 2 = court 2 ! By the way; Who was sitting next to Hogstadt in the box yesterday ? Have never seen that face in Maria's team.

Da, most interesting.  ESPN2 ref "hitting partner", "former player", "Volchov". Now, I'm not 100% sure, but he may be Alexander Volkov--friend & former coach of Marat, associated with Moscow Spartak, Shamil, etc. First time to note a distinct Moscow presence in the entourage.

Okay, Brebis, my speculation was wrong. But the Facts are interesting, too. Here is the guy--a former Wimbledon semifinalist:

Vladimir Volchkov

Full name: Vladimir Nikolayevich Volchkov
Gender: Male
Height: 6'0" (182 cm)
Weight: 190 lbs (86 kg)
Born: April 7, 1978 in Minsk, Minsk, Belarus
Affiliations: BSKP Minsk, Minsk (BLR)
Country: BLR Belarus

Tennis.com says:

The 2004 Wimbledon champion also said having her new team in place for a while has also helped. She’s been working with her coach, Sweden’s Thomas Hogstedt, for the past five months, and is still working and traveling with her physical therapist, Juan Reque. She just brought in former Wimbledon semifinalist Vladimir Volchkov as her hitting partner for the grass-court season. Former ATP pro Cecil Mamiit, who worked with her during the clay court season, will be back as her hitting partner during the U.S. summer hard-court swing.

quarters prediction:

Wozniacki vs. Sharapova-a definite CC match

Lisicki vs. S. Williams- this will be a great match

Paszek vs. Azarenka

Kvitova vs. can't decided between Venus and Pironkova

although there have been upsets, the line-up is still great.

I think Serena vs Marion on Monday will be a good one to watch. A marathon 3 setter very likely as Serena would have had a good rest. Can't wait.

This is also my prediction. In the last quarter mine is Kvitova vs Venus.

For the semis, my prediction:

Sharapova vs Serena W.  (match highly expected by tennis fans)

Azarenka vs Kvitova

Just the last word: my predictions were often WRONG.

So far I stopped overreacting, strange fact is, when I'm overreacting MaSha wins! So, no problem with that :)

MasHa deserves to WIN Wimbledon!

Strange that Miss Kirilenko did not kicked Serena out.

I do believe Bartoli - Serena will be lotsaFUN, maybe a thriller?

Bartoli can kick Serena out, hope so.

And Pironkova playing very well last time can kick Venus.

Greets to all fans :)

Playing against Serena: Let her run run run run from the left corner to the right corner, don't play her racket, most of the time she's building in lot's of rest before she kicks her first ball, OK, most of the time an ace :s
Easy said while watching TV with a coffee and some goodies.

Perhaps easy said, but the advice would have served Kiri or any early Serena opponent here or in ANY tournament. The only one I immediately recall actually DOING what was indicated was Zakopalova in Marbella a couple of years ago. Hey, Klara

LiveScoreHunter postings so far:

Monday (27 June) BST

12:00 Peng - Sharapova (No. 2 Court)

12:00 Petrova - Azarenka (No. 3 Court)

12:00 Lisicki - Cetkovska (Court 12)

13:00 Bartoli - S. Williams (No. 1 Court)

13:30 Wozniacki - Cibulkova (No. 2 Court)

13:30 Kvitova - Wickmayer (Court 12)

15:00 King / Shvedova - Lisicki / Stosur (Court 12)

16:00 V. Williams - Pironkova (Centre Court)

18:00 F. Lopez / Petkovic - Marrero / Hlavackova (No. 2 Court) Mixed

19:30 Huss / Rodionova - Bhupathi / Vesnina (No. 3 Court) mixed

In that case, the best opponent for Serena is Caroline Wozniacki. She tires her opponent out with long accurate rallies. That's all she's good at. Boring but effective against Serena.

I get more annoyed by the day about the court schedule of Wimbledon. In the past week every day there are 4 men's matches on Centre Court and court 1 and only 2 ladies matches . Why ??? What's wrong with the ladies top 10 ? They need to play on court 2 or 3 . Nadal, Djokovic, Federer and Murrey have played all of there matches on Centre Court or court 1 .
It's good Maria's plays the first match on Monday. Does not have to wait. I'll give up on the serve , do not see improvement there anymore for the future. As we can see Maria is in the strong half of the draw with Caroline, Serena, Kivtova, Bartoli. I'll wish Maria luck but if no improvement is coming, she will not reach the semi final.
