YOUR BRAIN IN THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF YOUR BODY.
THE BRAIN IS ALSO THE PART OF YOUR BODY THAT DOCTORS DON'T KNOW VERY WELL NOWADAYS.
Here is an article about a new performance of scientists.
WASHINGTON, January 23 (By Sasha Horne for RIA Novosti) - Researches have developed a test they say can help diagnose in living people a brain disease that has been linked to repeated head trauma in athletes. Previously the disease could only be detected after death.
The findings come as the family of the late football star Junior Seau filed suit Wednesday against the National Football League (NFL), claiming the linebacker's suicide last year was the result of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain disease the family contends he obtained from the violent hits to the head he sustained while playing football.
An autopsy found Seau had CTE, which is caused by a buildup of protein in the brain.
“What we are seeing in a lot of sports related injuries is that the symptoms don’t emerge until years after the trauma,” said Dr. Gary Small, a professor of psychiatry and biobehavioral sciences at UCLA and the lead author of the study, published Tuesday in the American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry.
Small and his colleagues from UCLA’s Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior say they have found a way to use brain scans to look for signs of the disease in the living, using a technique that can identify CTE by detecting the buildup of the microscopic tau protein in the brain.
"The findings are preliminary,” Small told RIA Novosti. “But if they hold up in future studies, this may be an opportunity to identify CTE before players have symptoms so we can develop preventative treatment.”
For the study, researchers recruited five living retired professional football players who were 45 years of age or older. Each player had a history of one or more concussions and experienced mood changes, a symptom of CTE.
Researchers said they found tau protein in the brains of the five former players.
Other symptoms of CTE include depression, aggression, memory loss and confusion.
According to The New York Times, more than 20 dead former football players and many boxers have had CTE diagnosed.
In 2011, National Hockey League (NHL) player Derek Boogaard died at 28 from an accidental drug and alcohol overdose while recovering from a concussion. A posthumous examination of his brain found he had suffered from CTE.
Professional wrestler Chris Benoit murdered his wife and son in 2007, later hanging himself. While steroid use was initially blamed for his erratic actions, researchers later discovered Benoit had CTE.
Researchers said the disease has also been detected after death in people who only played sports on the high school and collegiate levels, indicating hard blows to the head on any level could lead to the disease.
The study’s findings have been called a breakthrough by both researchers and their peers.
"It is the holy grail of CTE research to be able to identify those who are suffering from the syndrome early, while they're still alive,” said study author Dr. Julian Bailes, director of the Brain Injury Research Institute in an interview with Science Daily.
“Discovering the effects of prior brain trauma earlier opens up possibilities for symptom treatment and prevention," she added.
Athletes who show signs of CTE could then decide if they want to retire early to prevent additional brain trauma.
Researchers say real-time monitoring for CTE could change the outcome for trauma victims everywhere.
“We think these results have implications for not just professional and amateur athletes but also auto accident victims, military personal or anyone who has experience head trauma,” Small said.
Sorry to say but I hope that not all Russians are like you ! Not a good promotion of a Russian citizen .One Poetin is enough.
We just need to work for our country and our citizens. We don't care about what other people think about us because they are not the ones who are going to modernize Russia. Some of them are often jealous.
So many great restaurants, things to do, and movies to see ( has someone sat in those Gold Class seats? Amazing!) Here is a little photo blog from my stay in Melbourne. And I start with the restaurants...

The campaign activists are calling on use to switch off our cell phones and better to leave them at home. The aim is to the aim to combataddictophonia a term coined by French writer Phil Marso for a painful addiction to mobile phones and smartphones, which is due to the fear of being cut off from the world. We hear from physiologist Igor Vasilyev told the “Voice of Russia”:
"If a person is strongly addicted to mobile devices he or she fears to lose it. There were cases when people were depressed and felt loss of strength when they had their cell phones stolen."
Today it is nearly impossible to meet a person without a mobile device. Even a society woman coming to a party or a reception would rather leave her handbag at home but not her smartphone. 20 years ago such a situation would seem absurd. At the same time experts note that we should not exaggerate the scale of the problem. We hear from sociologist Igor Berezin.
"This problem does exist but in comparison with other problems humanity is facing today it is definitely not in Top 10. Indeed. There are people who are addicted to their cellphones just like there are people addicted to gambling, alcohol and drugs. But drug addiction is a really serious issue with hundred millions of drug addicts all over the world. As for other phobias such as addiction to cleanness when a person washes hands too often they belong to kinds of psychiatric disorders. It is doubtful that such disorders are widespread."
Nevertheless experts stress that we should remember about possible negative consequences of the mobile phone radiation. As for the worldwide campaign ‘No Mobile Phone Days’, now it is being held for the 13th time. So far no one has counted how many people followed the advice of the activists. The current flash-mob will last till February 8.

Everybody should know nowadays that microwave radiations are dangerous for your health. Everybody should also know that cell phones and wi-fi produce microwave radiation for the telephone calls or internet connections.
Our goal is not only to denounce the dangers of microwave radiations in our society, but also to show you the ways, you can protect yourself from them.
You can use these new earphones on your iPad to avoid a "part of the microwave radiation" on your head. When you put your cell phone in your bag, you can use an anti radiation bag to avoid the microwave radiations on your body.
FCC, IEEE and ICNIRP should tighten safety standards
HELSINKI, Finland, April 9, 2013 – Current safety standards for the radiation emissions from cell phones are old. FCC standard is from 1996 and ICNIRP from 1998. Since that time, a large number of research studies have been published, some of which pointed towards the possible health risk of exposures to cell phone radiation.

University of Northern Colorado student Alexander Heit was typing to an unidentified person when police say he lost control of his car and ran off the road.
Alexander Heit's final text cut off in mid-sentence.
Before he could send it, police say, the 22-year-old University of Northern Colorado student drifted into oncoming traffic, jerked the steering wheel and went off the road, rolling his car.
Heit died shortly after the April 3 crash, but his parents and police are hoping the photo of the mundane text on his iPhone will serve as a stark reminder to drivers.
The photo, published Wednesday in The Greeley Tribune, shows Heit was responding to a friend by typing "Sounds good my man, seeya soon, ill tw" before he crashed.
Witnesses told police that Heit appeared to have his head down when he began drifting into the oncoming lane in the outskirts of Greeley, where the University of Northern Colorado is located. According to police, an oncoming driver slowed and moved over just before Heit looked up and jerked the steering wheel.
Police say Heit, a Colorado native who loved hiking and snowboarding, had a spotless driving record and wasn't speeding.
In a statement released through police, Heit's mother said she doesn't want anyone else to lose someone to texting while driving.
"In a split second you could ruin your future, injure or kill others, and tear a hole in the heart of everyone who loves you," Sharon Heit said.
Teen cell phone use
WASHINGTON, April 7. 2013-“It’s getting harder to differentiate between schizophrenics and people talking on the cell phone. It brings me up short to walk by somebody who appears to be talking to themselves.” Bob Newhart.
My personnal belief is that our bodies are capable of adapting to pretty much anything you throw at it, it is the quantity at which we humans are exposed to such substances in this case cell phone radiation that poses danger. The more you expose yourself to something in doses, doses not lethal to your body, the more likely your body will adapt and thrive with the substance. Whether this is medically true or not I'm not positive so please reader discrection is advised.
Yes I agree with you in the case of a hard work. By working little by little every day, you can improve your performance in your favorite sport for example.
But it is not the same for microwave radiations from cell phones and wifi because these radiactions interact with your brain which is the best conductor in your body. Experiences with rats at the Catholic University of Louvain show us that low level microwave radiations create brain tumors in the rats brains. The rats finally died from these tumors.
These experiments with the rats have been published under the control of the best specialists of Belgium in the field of Microwave radiation (Pr. André Vander Vorst).
So by using your cell phone everyday near your brain, you just increase your risk to have a brain tumor one day.
Scientists at the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences have developed a technique to deliver cancer medication to the brain by inhalation. The medicine is carried by nano-particles which penetrate the olfactory nerve when inhaled and reach the brain through nerve tissue. IF

Low level of Microwave radiations used in cell phone technology give brains cancers to rats.
Dartagnan: What does the cell phone industry want to hide from you ?
First cell phones should be forbidden for all children and young people which age is under 18 years old as their brain is still growing.
Second, all adults should know that a long use&intensive use of a cell phone can give you a brain cancer.
Third, the new generation of cell phones emits more microwave radiation than the old generation because nowadays you can send not only your voice through your cell phone but also a video, an image...so your cell phone needs more microwave radiation for these uses.
Fourth, the role of any Goodwill ambassador is to tell to people the truth. It is better to tell the truth to people rather than hiding the truth to calm them down. Because one day the truth will be known by each of them but many of them might have a brain cancers. You can also be the first one who will have a brain cancer.
God sees you and judges you everyday. Forewarned is forearmed.
So let's not ignore the truth and let's take our responsabilities according people's health.
A lot of money can't replace your health because when you are died you don't need money anymore.
THE DREAM IS GONE....
As for smart meters and other wireless devices, the U.S. has not pre-market safety tested any of them and has not conducted any studies on Wi-Fi, cell towers, or the “smart” grid, while 80 percent of international studies show negative health effects to those who live up to a quarter-mile from cell towers.
Before cell towers were rolled out, the scientific literature showed sleep, cardiovascular, neurological and metabolic problems for people who lived near other microwave-emitting towers like tv, broadcast and air traffic control towers, radar installations and even radiofrequency-emitting radio towers. In part because the cell network relies on what are effectively two-way radio handheld devices to communicate with the towers, more microwave transmitters at closer intervals are required to run wireless networks than these older radiation-emitting transmission systems needed. Even more towers are required now that the government has permitted telecom companies to enable people to transmit not only phone calls wirelessly, but endless amounts of data and video, which should be transmitted by wire or cable instead.
Back in 1993, the California Public Utilities Commission had recommended siting towers away from schools and hospitals (by extension, that guidance should have included residences, since children and vulnerable populations also reside there). Independent scientists suggested that towers should be set at least a quarter-mile away– the approximate distance for the power density to level off; by 2009, the EU stipulated that towers should be kept away from schools, hospitals and old-age homes.
The first question people should have asked themselves when Wi-Fi was rolled out is how does this radiation compare to a tower? A layperson with a rudimentary grasp of physics but an inquisitive mind would have understood that proximity to the transmitter is the larger factor in radiation exposure than total power output. Per the math (verifiable by measurement), ubiquitously Wi-Fi-ed institutions expose many of their inhabitants to more radiation than they would get picnicking close to a cell tower. Even with the relatively lower-powered Wi-Fi in homes, people’s cumulative exposure from regular use of Wi-Fi exceeds the exposure most of them are getting from most cell towers.
So why would anyone have permitted the ubiquitous rollout of a technology (Wi-Fi) that would expose many people to more radiation than they would get from even a cell tower that was poorly sited (not at a distance per early precautionary warnings)? While it is understandable that the public believes that anything that is legally sold has been properly vetted for safety, blame should squarely be laid at the feet of the managers of institutions–schools and private and public sector offices– for deferring to their IT departments and not inquiring into the sense of exposing building occupants to microwave radiation all day.
In any event, many didn’t notice the transmitters going on their rooftops and on the walls and ceilings of their offices, schools and public buildings or grasp the implications of bringing transmitters in closer to human environments. While cell phones obviously present the most intense exposures, people are not exposed to them continually; indeed a 2009 Swiss study showed that on average, people moving in and out of urban areas got more cumulative exposure from transmitters than from their cell phones. Nevertheless, cell phone use, as previously discussed, is linked with a host of problems from cancers, to concentration problems and headaches. It isn’t hard to connect the dots and realize that extra cumulative radiation — indeed extra radiation that exceeds what people are getting from their daily use of a cell phone — presents a public health problem.
The number of brain tumors has strongly increased at the beginning of the 21st century.

San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors wanted that fact sheet describing possible dangers of cell phone radiation would be available for every buyer of the cell phone. They also wanted that this information would be clearly and visibly displayed by cell phone selling establishments.
Dartagnan: It is clear that during the 21st century the number of illness linked with the brain will increase. The number of Alzheimer & Parkison case will increase among the younger generation.
For some people in our society, money is more important that the people's health, so they turn a deaf ear to microwave radiation of wireless technologies. But we have to remember them that the truth will catch them up one day. The truth always wins.

May 10, 2013 — Professor Colin Pritchard's latest research published in journal Public Health has found that the sharp rise of dementia and other neurological deaths in people under 74 cannot be put down to the fact that we are living longer. The rise is because a higher proportion of old people are being affected by such conditions -- and what is really alarming, it is starting earlier and affecting people under 55 years.
Of the 10 biggest Western countries the USA had the worst increase in all neurological deaths, men up 66% and women 92% between 1979-2010. The UK was 4th highest, men up 32% and women 48%. In terms of numbers of deaths, in the UK, it was 4,500 and now 6,500, in the USA it was 14,500 now more than 28,500 deaths.
Professor Pritchard of Bournemouth University says: "These statistics are about real people and families, and we need to recognise that there is an 'epidemic' that clearly is influenced by environmental and societal changes."
Tessa Gutteridge, Director YoungDementia UK says that our society needs to learn that dementia is increasingly affecting people from an earlier age: "The lives of an increasing number of families struggling with working-age dementia are made so much more challenging by services which fail to keep pace with their needs and a society which believes dementia to be an illness of old age."
Bournemouth University researchers, Professor Colin Pritchard and Dr Andrew Mayers, along with the University of Southampton's Professor David Baldwin show that there are rises in total neurological deaths, including the dementias, which are starting earlier, impacting upon patients, their families and health and social care services, exemplified by an 85% increase in UK Motor Neurone Disease deaths.
The research highlights that there is an alarming 'hidden epidemic' of rises in neurological deaths between 1979-2010 of adults (under 74) in Western countries, especially the UK.
Total neurological deaths in both men and women rose significantly in 16 of the countries covered by the research, which is in sharp contrast to the major reductions in deaths from all other causes.
Over the period the UK has the third biggest neurological increase, up 32% in men and 48% in women, whilst women's neurological deaths rose faster than men's in most countries.
Professor Pritchard said, "These rises in neurological deaths, with the earlier onset of the dementias, are devastating for families and pose a considerable public health problem. It is NOT that we have more old people but rather more old people have more brain disease than ever before, including Alzheimer's. For example there are two new British charities, The Young Parkinson's Society and Young Dementia UK, which are a grass-roots response to these rises. The need for such charities would have been inconceivable a little more than 30 years ago."
When asked what he thought caused the increases he replied, "This has to be speculative but it cannot be genetic because the period is too short. Whilst there will be some influence of more elderly people, it does not account for the earlier onset; the differences between countries nor the fact that more women have been affected, as their lives have changed more than men's over the period, all indicates multiple environmental factors. Considering the changes over the last 30 years -- the explosion in electronic devices, rises in background non-ionising radiation- PC's, micro waves, TV's, mobile phones; road and air transport up four-fold increasing background petro-chemical pollution; chemical additives to food etc. There is no one factor rather the likely interaction between all these environmental triggers, reflecting changes in other conditions. For example, whilst cancer deaths are down substantially, cancer incidence continues to rise; levels of asthma are un-precedented; the fall in male sperm counts -- the rise of auto-immune diseases -- all point to life-style and environmental influences. These `statistics' are about real people and families, and we need to recognise that there is an `epidemic' that clearly is influenced by environmental and societal changes."
