How about just taking it one match at the time?
The first round match looks good, and after what i´ve heard about Marias hard work in Beijing during the last couple of days, it´s going to be a treat.
I just wish Maria the best of luck in her first round, a great chance to build some confidence and get the show rolling.

Agreed. There's some tough stuff in there, but I don't have reason to immediately distrust the intent. Russians & others on WTA's sh!t-list seem reasonably distributed, about three or four to a quarter, and not in an overall malignant pattern. Yeah, I'm looking at that stuff around safina-Zvonareva, but not prepared to jump in it yet. Can't really carp about the probable 2nd round meet of Lenochka & Date-Krumm, as Elena beat Kimiko at Stanford.
One thing that seems to be universal now in the new era of "designed draws" is the coddling of the top seed, whether she's Serena or Princess--get the top seed thru to the quarters, at least. Like I've said before, why not just hand the player list to the broadcasters & let media design the draw? That's what seems to be happening on that issue. [:P]
I DO think the WTA pimps had a finger in the qualies. [6] Check out the top of the qualifying draw: Vania King, now joined at the hip to Shvedova, was obliged to proceed only by first knocking off Kazakhstan's young Zarina Diyas, and today must face Makarova.
[8] It just happened that way... [8] ??? Not.
WTA's hit-list:
1) Russians.
2) Belarusians, Ukranians & Kazakhstanis.
3) Dirty Rooski-lovers like Wickmayer and now Vania King.
As Vania now learns, being an American doesn't protect you when you go against their implacable hatred of all things former-Soviet. [;)]
