I cannot have sympathy for her.


I love Maria too much and therefore I cannot forget the moment in 2007, Moscow.


when she defeated Maria 7:6, 6:2.


Her first triumph over a top player was Maria.

Vika has a few maturation issues to work on. Early in Friday's second set, she got her panties in a bunch at umpire Louise Engzell over a bad line call, then went all paranoid.

"Why should I f_ckin' try...?" She asked coach Antonio Van Grichen during a break. (Yeah, they didn't edit that, even on the replay. lol)

"No," Van Grichen said. "No one is trying to do anything to you. Just leave that thing alone and work on the things you need to..."

But she couldn't let it go--she checked out mentally and even when Kuzi's forehand stiffened up, Vika didn't even try to take advantage when she was only down 4-5. She just wanted to get off the court.

She was about to cry over it in the press conference.

Still pretty young--she'll get past that stuff. I'm just surprised it ate her lunch so bad. [^o)]

I haven't seen shrieky Vicky that immature in along while. Antonio has some serious issues to work on. But she's young and I trust her [:)].

Vika V Ivanovic today!!  Finally an opponent that may be able to challenge Ivanovic, although the way Ivanovic is playing probably the only person who can knock her out is Safina, unfortunately.  But you never know, good luck Vika!!  Fight fight fight all the way!!!!

One difference--Vika knows how to piss off a crowd. [H] Amusing, as long as she can learn to not let it bother her.


She and Vesnina will play Yan & Zheng in doubles Monday, 2nd match on Court 1. I think Vika won her mixed doubles with Nestor of Canada today.

It will certainly be the match of the round when she plays Safina in the QF. We will see how Safina goes against a quality opponent - she hasn't met one yet so far in this tournament. Azarenka has been one of the few form players during 2009 and what might of been had she not got sick during her match with Serena at the AO?(she may have gone on & won the AO!) She is possibly the best of the current teenagers that could break through and win a GS. Her style of game does remind me of Maria, though definitely not her personality.

Good Luck to Vika in all her matches at the French Open!!  I hope she wins something, whether it's the singles, doubles or mixed doubles!!  Oh my if she knocks out Safina I will fly to France and give her the biggest hug she has ever gotten in her life!!!  Goooooooo Vika!!!
