No not all christian in Russia are Orthodox. That would be like saying all christians in England are Angle (Not!!!). Also, the orthodox part of the Christian faith is a large sum of difference churches. The orthodox faith spreads though most of the old Bystantine empire but are not well connected unlike the Roman Catholic Church. Each group differs from the other because the lines of the different parts of the sects were formed though the many small kingdoms that ended up after the fall of the Bystantine Empire a large sum of these being on the Turk, Aust-Hung no-man's land. When the Russian Empire was strong the Orthodox leader of the old capital (Moscow) became the leader of the Orthodox faith throughout the lands that Russia controlled. Once the Soviets obtained power, Moscow more or less lost its power and many of the old county like partitions of the faith occured to protect those who believed from the Communist persecution.

Islam:
Has its roots in Russia with the Mongol Hords and their conversion to Islam close to the Persian boarder.

Protestant and Catholic:
Protestant partition of the Christian faith happens to be the fastest growing group in the old Soviet Union.
Before tthe communist take over there was a small but influencial portion of the population that were either Protestant (Fabrege) or Catholic.
Also, the jewish faith also had a lot of influence with the royal family especially after the takeover of the Polish Empire which gave them large sums of banking power, financial power, and adminstrative understanding because of their hundreds of years of influence on the Polish Empire.

To me it doesn't matte the religious affiliation that she belongs to as long as she is saved.

true she is Christian but bcuz she wears a cross that make her christian??? im Baptist Christain in Sochi most people are christian in russia and not orthodox thats more north of the country (weird part) :P jks and i don't personally think she practices it bcuz i know she gets frustrated and hot and angry but theres a vod were she says the f word and all in considerarion if she practiced her religion she wouldnt have said that in a million so this raises more questions but altoghether i love her for sticking up for herself and being an excellent sportswomen and playing well so yeha..

I am an christian to, and i wear a cross but not because i'm a christian but because i've got it from my dead grandma 11 years ago.


Well Maria got this cross when she was 10, and wears it all the time because she like it doesn't she?

Certainly Masha is christian, she Russian and consequently she carries a cross, I too its have, our belief in all centuries, in all wars helped us, and the God helps also to Masha as devout christian. She spoke that carries it for connection with the roots, with the Native land and with the belief. And it really helps, unless is not present?

But you know, some people are really busy with there religion like there is nothing else, but there are also normal people (( i just use the word normal )) that live like they have no religion but they have it in ther head, and don't annoy people that don't want to know about it.


I think Maria keeps it for her self with her parents and that is a good thing.
