Unseeded Sorana Cirstea off to Rogers Cup final with win over Li Na

TORONTO — Sorana Cirstea continued her Cinderella run at the Rogers Cup with a 6-1, 7-6 (5) upset victory over Chinese fourth-seed Li Na in Saturday’s semi-finals.
The unseeded Romanian came into the match having ousted two former world No. 1s in Jelena Jankovic and Caroline Wozniacki before dethroning defending champion and sixth-seed Petra Kvitova in the quarter-finals.
Li was looking for a return trip to the Rogers Cup final after losing last year to Kvitova.
The 23-year-old Cirstea looked loose and confident in the first set as she broke twice to go up 5-1, whizzing forehands past Li while skipping and jogging between points, perhaps to remind the 31-year-old Li of their age difference.
