Let me start by officialy welcoming you to this thread !!   [;)]

The last GS of the year is about to start, what do you expect will happen in New York ??  It would be great if Maria can win this tournament !

2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 ???

Apart from a win , Maria can hopefully attend the YEC. Beside the YEC , I see Maria only play 2 more tournaments in Asia and then the year is over !!

What do you predict will happen ??

Serena won't be there. So Sharapova has a chance now.

If she can't win with Serena not being there than she's useless.

If Maria withdraws from the tournament now with injury, my heart will break. *fingers crossed*

Maria needs to watch out for Clijsters, Kuznetsova and Azarenka.

Maria has to be the favourite now with Clijsters; although Clijsters beat Maria at Cincinatti, Maria played better.

NB: I do feel sorry for Serena though, this will surely harm her chances tremendously of catching up with Navratilova and Evert. I am no tennis historian, so I will put this question out to you guys, did the likes of Graf, Evert, and Navratilova *not Seles* ever get seriously injured like players these days do?

Please also do not allow Kuznetsova to win -- I could not be able to stand it for another Russian to equal Maria's slam record. Secondly, I desperately don't want Clijsters to win for what happened at Cincinatti.

Yeah, really pleased about that. Kim was fortunate to not go out earlier.

Mind you though Paul, I like Vera, but definitely not in that way *shivers*, but hey, I guess there is only one girl on the WTA for me.[:)]

EDIT: Kim is not certain for the US with an injury procured during her match against Zvonareva. I think I actually want Kim to make it so Maria can smash her

damn! i forgot to open this thread :(

SERENA OUT YAYYY!!.I think maria is the fave to win it, followed closely by kim. But kim hasnt been playing that hot at all all summer. So its a tough one. Maria just dont lose focus.

And also, Wozniacki will be seeded no.1 :/

I didn't watch the match either, but according to Eurosport news she experienced a lot of tightness in her left hip, although in the post-match interview, Clijsters was adamant that she wouldn't miss the US Open despite admitting that she would have an MRI scan to ensure the problem isn't serious.

i just watched E:60 Maria Sharapova. After watching the video, I just felt how hard Maria's life was! From classic rags to riches! And I also felt bad for Yuri working low paying jobs. *sobs*

And she did some during the first set today. [H] I don't think she broke it, but she chastised it proper! Got the TTV mouthpiece ALL upset but hey! That racquet started behaving, didn't it?
