Japan clashes with Milan Fashion Week.  I'm sure there'll be something that clashes with China too.

I agree with you Brebis " bye bye season"! It seems that Maria doesn't want to play at this season any more! :(

She is too busy with Sugarpova, photo shoot, magazines and etc! And doesn't have time for playing at tournaments, unfortunately!

Perhaps, but if the shoulder injury is the true reason of the absence (on court), I hope that this injury will not stop her career...

OFFICIAL (although we knew this already)

Sharapova withdraws from Pan Pacific Open

Russian world No. 3 Maria Sharapova has pulled out of the upcoming Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo, organizers said Thursday.

The 26-year-old Sharapova, the winner in 2005, has withdrawn from the Sept. 22-28 tournament, to continue her recovery from a right shoulder injury that kept her out of the U.S. Open.

Well, it's clear to me that Maria will not fly to Asia just for 1 tournament so bye, bye China Open. That leaves us with Istanbul left. No, I do not expect her to play, as she has not played matches for weeks and will not fly to Europe to be out in round 1. So bye, bye 2013 ! Leaves us with 2014, 2015 and 2016.

PAVLY & KIRI thru in Seoul...DAVAI !!!

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the highest seed in action Monday at the KDB Korea Open, had the longest match of the day, but still emerged victorious.Watch Guangzhou starting Friday and Seoul starting Saturday on WTA Live powered by TennisTV! The third-seeded Pavlyuchenkova dropped a see-saw first set but took over from there for a 57 62 63 first round triumph over Anabel Medina Garrigues in two hours and 41 minutes. "It wasn't easy because it's my first match since leaving the US and I'm a bit jet-lagged and tired," Pavlyuchenkova said. "Also Anabel played amazing in the first set, but I cut out my mistakes in the second and third sets. "It was pretty slow out there today. I don't know if it was the balls or the courts, but that's another reason we had really long rallies and the match lasted so long." Pavlyuchenkova usually does her best work on hardcourts, as four of her five WTA titles have come on the surface, as well as both of her runner-up showings and all four of her semifinal outings. "I would like to win the tournament," Pavlyuchenkova said. "After this match I'm not sure how I'll feel tomorrow, but I'll do my best and try to go as far as I can." In the two other matches involving seeds, Lara Arruabarrena was a 75 26 64 winner over No.5 seed Elina Svitolina to snap a four-match losing streak, and No.6 seed Julia Goerges beat Misaki Doi, 63 75. A couple of other winners were Virginie Razzano and Alexandra Dulgheru. Razzano routed Lourdes Domínguez Lino, 61 61, and has now surrendered just nine games combined in her three matches against the Spaniard. Down 6-5, 30-0 in the second set of her clash with Han Sung-Hee, Dulgheru won 11 straight points for a 60 76(0) victory. Ons Jabeur, Han Xinyun, Risa Ozaki and Chan Chin-Wei all moved into the main draw with wins in the final round of qualifying. Defending champions and No.1 seeds Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears were among the first round doubles victors. No.1 seed Agnieszka Radwanska, No.2 seed and 2008 Seoul champ Maria Kirilenko and 2009 Seoul champ Kimiko Date-Krumm are among those in action on Tuesday.

Lovely Chinagirls :)

GUANGZHOU, China - Hsieh Su-Wei made the perfect start to her Guangzhou Open defense on Monday with a quick-fire win over Paula Ormaechea.

Watch Guangzhou & Seoul this week on WTA Live powered by TennisTV!

Twelve months ago, Hsieh won her second career title with a rollercoaster victory over Laura Robson at the Tianhe Sports Center, but her first round with Ormaechea was devoid of any such drama.

After an early exchange of breaks, No.6 seed Hsieh began to befuddle her Argentine opponent as her smorgasbord of shots helped her to a 61 62 win in just 56 minutes. Next up for Hsieh will be Chinese wildcard Zhang Shuai, who defeated Olga Puchkova, 60 76(1).

No.8 seed Monica Puig was given a sterner workout, coming from a break down in both sets before seeing off the stubborn resistance of qualifier Nadiya Kichenok, 75 76(4).

This was the 37th win of what has been a breakthrough year for Puig on tour. Having started out in January well outside the Top 100, the Florida-based Puerto Rican arrived in China safely inside the Top 50.

Meeting her for a place in the quarterfinals will be Galina Voskoboeva after she brushed aside Petra Cetkovska, 63 61. Other opening round winners included Vania King, Karolina Pliskova and Johanna Konta.

Tuesday will see a number of the pre-tournament favorites begin their challenges, including the No.1 and No.2 seeds, Sorana Cirstea and Alizé Cornet, and 2012 runner-up Robson.
