Thanks!  When I first caught Simona in Fès, maybe 2007, I knew she was an upcomer.  I noticed then--she just does NOT quit, no matter what!

What a beautiful triangle you move in.  I've been fortunate to travel a bit and I've been to all three

unabashed HUGE fan of Genie... My "1A".

Neither, it's fairfax well Reston is not very far but didn't have a chance to visit much, work-work-work!!! :(

Genie is from a very nice town, Westmount the nicest town of Montreal!!!

I always find it weird that Genie uses Westmount in her Bio, instead of Mtl. A bit of a slap in the face to the rest of the city which completely encircles Westmount, especially considering the language politics involved. I used to love walking or cross country skiing at Summit Park and grew up next to westmount in NDG. I'm hoping to make it to the Roger's cup in MTL again next year, maybe we can hook up. I'm hoping that I can finally get to see Masha play a match live before she retires.

Good job by Halep taking out Woz and K-Vitty in New Haven.

Miss watching ya play Maria :(

Masha is my #1!!

Yeah, we stay in touch, a year is a LONG way, I mean Maria cancelled 3 days before the USO. I will only go if she comes.

I will tentatively put Montreal on my schedule for 2014.  Could possibly do it if I start planning soon.  It's

not just around the corner for me.  I cancelled my plans to get to Toronto this year because Maria didn't

go.  But let's not burn up too much space on this topic "US Open 2013" for colloquial (local) stuff.  It bores

all the other members and is a bit off-topic.  Maybe someone woud like to open a new topic for the "Lovely

and Talented Genie Bouchard".  With Genie's dynamics and potential, I'm sure there will be lots to report..

In Maria news, Grigor was walking Dolce down 5th avenue and Masha was shopping!!!
Looking forward to tomorrow's tennis wishing I could watch Fichman vs Sori. Sharon may just surprise, she's been playing very well of late. Fichman will be playing doubles with Wozniack, who is coming back from almost a year off due to injury.

Like to see some evidence of Grigor walking Dolce. If no pics, your information is false  !

Genie thru in 3 tough ones. Pliskova's serve was surprisingly tough. Good power on her forward too. Movement...not so much. Genie won kinda ugly, but those are very necessary to get done. Sharon played Sori very tough, but wilted in the third set. Kristina thru in topsy turvy affair, but picapower lost to Kleibs in 3.

ROBSON WINS AS FIRST ROUND BEGINS

NEW YORK, NY, USA - It was a tricky day for the favorites at the US Open on Monday, with a number of seeds surviving some big tests and some even going out on Day 1 of the final major of the season.

Among the early winners was the No.30 seed, Laura Robson, who was in deep trouble in the first set of her match - Lourdes Domínguez Lino served for the set at 5-4 - but the Brit turned up the heat just in time, breaking serve and eventually reeling off nine games in a row for a runaway 75 60 victory.

"I thought going into the match I'd be a little bit rusty, so I'm really happy to get the win today, especially playing as well as I did in the end," Robson said afterwards. "She's a really tough opponent to play, because she doesn't give you very many unforced errors and gets a lot of balls back. Some shots she somehow got it back, and then it ended up on the baseline. It's like the point basically restarted.

"I really wanted to win. I'd lost to her twice before, and the last time I played her I had match point, so I knew she was going to be confident. I just had to stay focused and not go for too much out there."

Robson hadn't played since Carlsbad due to a right wrist injury, but she was striking her backhand very nicely during the match - a good omen for a tournament she has done very well at previously.

"I played really well here last year, but I'm only in the second round now, so I have a long way to go," Robson said. "I thought I played especially well in the second set this morning, so I just have to take it one match at a time. I have to say it was great how many people came to watch today, though."
