Disappointing second round defeat! Was not unavoidable, would just discuss two of your long-time weaknesses that made you lose this match as well. (1) You had one break point for 5:5 in the second set. It was a fierce forehand rallye, and when you, rightly, wanted to end it with a longline ball, you aimed again too exactly - no I would say, stupidly - and it ended in the double corridor. I don't think you were too late, no you simply aimed too exactly, ie with far too much risk. (2) In the first set, at 1:1 and 15:0 you had served well followed by a big forehand and your opponent only had a high, very short emergency ball. What did you do? You wasted the two, three seconds that the ball was in the air, awaiting it with your backhand - instead of slowly walking around it and kill it with your forehand. Your backhand "smash" was lousy - as often - and you volleyed her passing shot into the out. In my view, you clearly missed a 30:0 here, which most likely would have avoided the upcoming break to 1:2. Please tell me: Who has told you to smash such super easy balls with the backhand? It is an ridiculous error, and as long as you continue with them, you will pay the price by unnecessary losses.

For consolation: Court No. 2 seemed slow as compared to the ultra-fast center court of your first round match. In general I saw your extreme focus on serve, a slight inferiority in the baseline exchanges and disappointing returns. In principle, you got familiar with your opponent's serve in the second game of the match already, where you generated several break points. But from there your return did not improve but rather deteriorated and never stabilized. Difficult to understand if the court indeed was slow. Enjoy your extra spare time and return to the hard courts at full strength. Leo2

Didn't know that Maria was under attack for launching Sugarpova in England to the "younger fans " . Knowing Maria she must be upset about that !! Time to go home , to more sun and warmer weather. Her only problem is that Sasha is back home in Manhattan Beach. She will bump in to him soon . Let's see what happens next.  PS;  Only today already 7 seeded ladies players out of the tournament + my friend Roger. 2013 does not bring much luck,

FUCK MAN. I had to miss the match, but she must have been BAD to lose to a mug like De Brito, surely one of the worst players she's lost to in a slam,or anywhere,in fact. I hope this doesn't set her back too much, got to keep on keeping on...

Dartagnan: Sometimes you have to forget "Serena Williams" and concentrate your efforts on other tennis player's tennis...because Maria Sharapova is the tennis player that each tennis player of the planet wants to defeat one day..

Anyway Maria Sharapova is tired, she needs a rest...she is not a robot or a doped athlete, she is a human being.

"Good luck Masha!", "Удачи Маше!"

Sharapova Suffers Shock Wimbledon Exit

Maria Sharapova

MOSCOW, June 26 (R-Sport) - Third seed Maria Sharapova was dumped out of the Wimbledon tennis tournament on Wednesday by world No. 131 Michelle Larcher de Brito in one of the biggest upsets of the Grand Slam so far.

The Portuguese qualifier, 20, took the first set with surprising ease and met only a little more resistance in the second from an out-of-sorts Sharapova for a 6-3, 6-4 victory and the biggest scalp of her career.

"It was the best win of my career – amazing. I can't believe it,” De Brito said in comments to the BBC.

The Russian, who won the event as a fresh-faced 17-year-old in 2004, took a medical time-out midway through the match after landing awkwardly on court.

It is Sharapova's worst showing at Wimbledon since 2009, when she lost in three sets to Gisela Dulko of Argentina, and it ranks alongside Rafael Nadal's shock first-round defeat to little-known Belgian Steve Darcis.

Larcher de Brito, for her part, is yet to register a WTA title and reaches the third round for the first time at SW19 - and for just the second time ever at a Grand Slam.

She plays Karin Knapp of Italy, ranked just 27 places above her, for a place in the last 16.

There was better news for Russia elsewhere, with 25th seed Ekaterina Makarova fighting past Spaniard Garbine Muguruza in three sets, 6-2, 6-7(3), 6-4.

Makarova reaches the third round for the first time in six attempts, but has her work cut out if she is to progress any further: 2011 champion Petra Kvitova stands in the way of a place in the last 16. The two players have never met before.

Kvitova walked into the third round after her opponent Yaroslava Shvedova pulled out with an arm injury.

"I'd love to open a tennis school for children in my hometown of Sochi." said Sharapova Maria.

NO, MIDASO, Michelle wasn't a mug at all and certainly not a bad player. She was good on all fronts, read & replied on Masha's game very well and was simply the best.

Here's what Maria had to say:  "I give her a lot of credit. I think she played extremely well today,” said Sharapova after the match. “She was really solid from the baseline. I don't feel like I was aggressive enough, that I hit the ball deep enough. I wasn't ready after the returns or the serves. She's someone that plays extremely aggressive. I just wasn't there.”

Well Maria you had your chances, but you just didn't take them.  At the end of the day, you got your ass kicked.  You were outplayed, outscreamed, and without Thomas to reprogram you with a Plan B in the break, you hadn't a clue how to get out of the mess you found yourself in.

Call yourself a seasoned Tennis Player without a clue?  Why dont you try selling sweets and candies, you might be better at that.

MARIA WAS OUTHOUGHT, OUTPLAYED, AND EVEN OUT-SQUEALED!!

This was a low in a long line of Wimbledon failures since she won in 2004. Yes she has got to a couple of semis and a final, but was beaten easily in all of them. She has lost to a succession of players who you would have thought she would beat in her sleep back then. We thought she would compete in final after final with she-man, but others have worked her out. Her win - lose record at GS finals is now 4-4.

There IS no real rivalry with she-man Williams. Simply because Williams wins every time they play!

Maria's game is too basic. Yes at her very best she can still get to semis, but as soon as she plays the creme de la creme she is found wanting. Her game simply hasn't developed enough, unlike her squealing. That game with Di Brita was bordering on embarrassing the way they out-squealed each other.

I have always been a fan of maria, always will be, but SOMETIMES you have to say it how it really is. Maria is a good grand-slam winner, in the class of Clijsters maybe. SHE HAS NOT REACHED OR WILL EVER REACH THE GREATNESS OF GRAF OR WILLIAMS. There simply isn't enough to her game.
