Venus Williams and Svetlana Kuznetsova out of Wimbledon
Former French Open and US Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova has withdrawn from Wimbledon because of an abdominal strain, the All England Club announced on Wednesday.

Kuznetsova, a quarterfinalist in 2003, 2005 and 2007, was to have been the 26th seed at the tournament, which starts on Monday.

But the 27-year-old Russian’s withdrawal means that Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic becomes the 32nd seed to fill the gap.

Earlier, five-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams pulled out of this year’s tournament because of a back injury.

Williams suffered her earliest French Open exit in 12 years when she crashed to a first-round defeat to Poland’s Urszula Radwanska at Roland Garros last month.

The 33-year-old – who has won seven Grand Slam titles in all – also pulled out of the doubles there with her sister Serena because of her back problem.

“Unfortunately, I will not be able to participate in Wimbledon this year,” Williams said on her Facebook page.

“I am extremely disappointed as I have always loved The Championships, but I need to take time to let my back heal.

“I look forward to returning to the courts as soon as possible, with my goal being to return to Mylan World Team Tennis on July 8th in Washington DC.

“Many thanks to my fans for the love and support and I will be seeing you very soon back on the courts.”

As mentioned above , it says enough what kind of person Serena really is . Cold blooded with no class / respect for others !  Is she a Jehova witness ?? Don't make me laugh. I'll hope she will drop out of the tournament in the 1st week.

Not because you finally lost against a sensational Lesicki, but even in the earlier rounds (Pironkova) you did not seem familiar with the grass and the shorter times to react. So it is all about speed, and you should first forget about Serena and Vika but concentrate to survive the early rounds. Your improved service and of course your splendid returns will help you. But watch out for short, slow balls - in most cases when your second ball is to be played - which you should immediately attack but with an element of safety, keeping in mind that a rallye with initiative is the thing to go for. Good luck for Wimbledon, Leo2

Don't be alarmed about Maria Sharapova's tennis !!!!

I would like to add that Maria Sharapova tennis is excellent. Her team hasn't found yet the solution to beat the African lion: Serena but it is a question of time. We should not forget that Maria Sharapova defeated all the rest of the tennis players of the planet: Azarenka, Jankevic.... It wasn't the case the last year.

I think Maria Sharapova is the one who understands better her trouble in tennis, she is also the one who will find the solution to defeat Serena's Williams. Her team is here to help her.

Of course Masha's goal is not to defeat a special tennis player but to increase her level of tennis by avoiding all mistakes and being more precise.

The lion will be defeated one day... but I am sure that Masha won't be eaten by the African Lion

"I'd love to open a tennis school for children in my hometown of Sochi." said Sharapova Maria.

Soms is een tegenstander beter dan moet je van de tegenstander winnen op het mentale aspect.

Of werkt dat zo niet bij het tennis?

Hey, I'm good, I'm good.  Those are girls I wanna see. Just don't tell me a bit of that is "random" In the main, those matchups are obviously contrived to optimize tv coverage.
