The second grand slam of year is gonna start ( starts on 26 May and ends on 9 June),  Maria completed her Career Grand Slam last year by winning title, So Maria is gonna defeat her points and title.

Maria also had a great performance on clay this year too by defeating Stuttgart title and reaching Madrid final ;) Certainly winning French Open again will not be easy but you know it's not impossible and Maria has a performance so much better than past years on clay surface . Personally I think withdrawing from Rome is just for having more time for resting and preparing , I hope there isn't another problem for Maria such as an injury

Maria has ability to repeat it again ;)

Yes Maria's victory, the last year at Roland Garros is unforgettable. BUT we don't want to force Maria to win it again. It will depend on her health. We don't need a Maria with a serious injury on her shoulder again. So we don't want her team to push her too much for a new victory if she has a serious trouble with her health or if she is not ready physically.

Would like to discuss the tennis to expect and the most serious opponents a bit. Vika seems to be in reach for Maria, despite the fact that Vika played quite impressively against Serena in the Rome final. Vika, when in form, is able to safely play rallyes with many shots  in a "semi-hard" fashion. On hard courts, those shots are often hurting Maria too much. But on clay, said shots have a little bit less bite, and I would expect Maria to stay in many rallyes, get the initiative and finally make the point.

Serena is a different proposition, of course. Quite generally spoken, Maria's normal play is suiting Serena very much (ie too much), meaning that under normal circumstances Maria will never win. Remember the Miami final where Maria played the best set of her life (the first one), and nevertheless it took her far too long time to win it, only by 6:4. It was impossible to keep this level and even being a break up in the second set, Maria finally lost clearly. Thus, my first and most important advice to Maria is to play in an "unusual fashion" against Serena. First: In rallyes, please play constantly left - right - left - right, in contrast to your usual play where you like to nail the opponent on the same side. Vika did this occasionally quite well in the Rome final. If Serena has to move, she less often kills you with winners. You might say always changing the side is more difficult for me and will produce even more errors on my side. My advice: Please play these rallye shots not at full pace and risk but only safely with 70-80%. You have to accept the occasional winners by Serena but your main goal should be to move her, to make her run and tired. Other unexpected things to do at your end: Forget about your forehand longline shots when being hurt by a hard shot to your forehand (you had zero success in about 10 tries in your Madrid final against Serena). Rather try something unexpected, e.g. a short forehand slice or a diagonal lob. Serena sometimes behaves rather clumsy at her t-line when facing some short ball or overhead volley. At important break points, try an unusually soft, somehow sliced first service, which will surprise her. In general, constantly change direction (more to her body!) and pace of your first services all the time (and get them in). This is at least my conclusion from the fact that most of your good first services, which serve well against all other players, result in simple blocked return winners by Serena. talking about Serena's weaknesses: Although she is able to run like hell, if there is an important point to win, I often see her not moving well but playing from just where she stands. Should you be able to win the "physical battle", i.e. make her a little tired, you may finally see a dramatic deterioration of her game. Even if it is 0:6, 0:4, you should continue to play and wait for that. And Maria, there is absolutely no reason to be nervous and rushing in the beginning (as in the Madrid final): You have nothing to lose, the expected result will be a loss for you, just try to make the unlikely happen. The physique will play a major role anyway. thus try to win your early rounds comfortably and quickly. Best luck! Leo

You can see it coming , this is going to be a difficult, messy tournament. The weather in Europe has not been that cold and rainy since 1972 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is unbelievable so cloudy, so much rain is falling, miserable it is . Europe is waiting for the SUN . How does that look ?? Have not seen it for ages.

Will make the tournament tough with many rain delays and playing 2 matches in one day etc. etc. etc. Fair treatment will not exict and therefore I do expect a tombola. May the luckiest person win.

Sorry Maria don't like the dress . It is too normal. Does not really look elegant and bright . Might look different as soon  as you wear it.

The draw is coming up !! What will it be , Azarenka in Maria's half, will Radwanszka play. Will we see Errani again against Maria. Getting exited !!! One more day to go.

Ps; I keep getting a smile on my face when I open the home page of the WTA site. It's not Williams or Azarenka but Maria who is the highlight of this page and that already for weeks. It says enough !!!
