Seb, Gaston, Elena and Arantxa – the new legends!
The now-traditional Perrier Legends' Trophy has attracted plenty of new – and famous –faces this year. The tournament gets under way on Tuesday 4 June and will see former Roland Garros heroes Sébastien Grosjean, Gaston Gaudio and Adriano Panatta taking part in the men's competition, while Arantxa Sanchez, Elena Dementieva and Mary-Joe Fernandez will feature in the women's. Plenty more players from all around the world (including a healthy dose of Frenchies) will also be involved in these double matches, with 12 men's teams and six women's. Pioline-Santoro, Bruguera-Krajicek, Chang-Kafelnikov, Boetsch-Grosjean, Costa-Moya and Ivanisevic-Gaudio will play in the men's 35-45 category, with Forget-Leconte, Pernfors-Wilander, Bahrami-Cash, McEnroe-Panatta, Muster-Stich and Gomez-Woodforde in the men's +45. Davenport-Hingis, Novotna-Schett, Tauziat-Testud, Dementieva-Navratilova, Fernandez-Sanchez and Martinez-Majoli meanwhile will fight it out in the women's competition.

LENOCHKA plays the legends...doubles with MARTINA NAVRATILOVA !!!

Tennis: Dementieva Eyes Coaching Role

MOSCOW, June 3 (R-Sport) - Two-time Grand Slam finalist Elena Dementieva sees coaching kids as a likely career path.

The 31-year-old Russian, who hung up her racket in 2010, revealed that coaching the less impressionable tour pros didn't appeal as much as cultivating them.

"To take a grown-up, a fully-blown player, has no interest for me," Dementieva said on the website of the Moscow Legends event where she's competing this week.

"My own experience tells me that everything is laid down in childhood. A coach's work is a tough daily grind and a big responsibility ... but I think maybe I'll go into it in the future," she said.

Dementieva, a former world No. 3, was beaten by compatriot Anastasia Myskina in the 2004 French Open final, and by another Russian, Svetlana Kuznetsova, in the following U.S. Open final.

She won Olympic gold at the 2008 Beijing Games, downing Dinara Safina in three sets.

"I'd love to open a tennis school for children in my hometown of Sochi." said Sharapova Maria.

If what she's playing is the Moscow Legends, then we're not looking to see her in Paris.

But, Streams HAVE appeared for the first men's Legends match starting now on Court 1   http://lsh.streamhunter....ups/154129977346320.html

So I guess we will see what we shall see tomorrow.

They would never post this if the contracts/agreements weren't there...NO, as always "men first, ladies after":)

This year is Perrier’s 150th anniversary, and the 36th year of partnership with Roland Garros, which also includes the Perrier Legends Trophy that gets under way today. To find out more about the partnership, we spoke to Françoise Bresson, head of partnerships and sponsoring for Nestlé Waters.

How did Perrier and Roland Garros first come together?

Perrier was already present in 1928 when the Roland Garros stadium was first inaugurated, via an advertisement in one of the most prestigious magazines at the time, entitled L’Illustration. Perrier’s commitment to tennis first really began in 1978 when it became an official partner of the French Open. That was the first year that the famous Perrier bubble was featured on the drinks boxes for the players, and we have been sparkling at the tournament ever since. In 1987 our branding began to appear on the umpires’ chairs, then in 1996 on the players’ chairs and parasols. The brand was also associated with some of the world’s top players as they rose through the rankings. Since then, Perrier’s presence at Roland Garros has been getting bigger every year, providing various services to the tournament organisation and to the spectators. 36 years after first coming to Roland Garros, Perrier has become an indispensable partner with an all-encompassing presence.

What does this partnership involve in real terms?

One of the main aspects of our partnership is based on the visibility of the brand on-court which translates via the presence of Perrier in the players’ rest area. Hydration is incredibly important at Roland Garros though, for the players, the organisers and of course for spectators, which is why we supply over 200,000 products throughout the fortnight for the players and for those working on-site at Roland Garros, while 150,000 bottles of Perrier are sold to the public. As well as these measures, it was our aim to provide as many services as possible, which is why we are sponsoring the shuttles for spectators to make it easier for them to get to and from the stadium. And of course every year we offer spectators a special brand experience to make their Roland Garros visit an unforgettable one, and to ensure that Perrier occupies a prominent role in their memories of the event.

Perrier’s commitment is not just to the French Open though…

That’s right. At Roland Garros, we have been partners of the Perrier Legends’ Trophy for the past three years – an incredible tournament which brings together some of the greatest players in the history of men’s and women’s tennis. Time marches on but legends remain – the quality of their play is more important than the results of the tournament, and you can feel the emotion, the enjoyment and the creativity in each shot they play. This event provides a touch of improvisation and a lot of laughter, which is what Perrier stands for, and this is why we simply had to be associated with the event. And there is also another long-term partnership, and one that is very important to us – namely the Trophées Perrier French amateur championships.

This year is the 150th anniversary of the creation of Perrier. What have you got planned in terms of celebrations to mark the event?

Perrier is celebrating its 150th anniversary by producing a limited edition by Andy Warhol, and we wanted to extend this experience to the spectators at the tournament. We are doing this by means of a photo app called Perrier Pop Art which can be downloaded free of charge, enabling them to “Warholise” their photos and their memories of Roland Garros. It is also an excellent way for them to communicate their presence at the French Open via the web and social media.
