Watched the match and considering haven't played at all, well she is doing pretty good and I see her playing very smart Tennis. Although her serve, especialy her 2nd serve, wasn't quite there but still able to produce few Aces. Overall great result and Good for you Maria.

Best of luck throughout this tournament.

My sleep won over watching the match. Looking at the score, not rusty at all. Great start but just the beginning. In Paris the first match was also 6-0 and 6-0 if I'm not mistaken . We know what happened since !!!

If she had played somebody in the top 40 and achieved the same score line, I would have been impressed.  But, since it was an unknown qualifier, ranked 107, who had already played 3 tough matches last week, I dont see it as a real achievement.  I'll reserve my judgement until she plays a 'real' player.  Looks like the interviewers are getting more and more stupider every year.

Not a bad way for Maria, to kick off her 2013 tour ;)

Commanding performance all around even without having the luxury of tune-up matches prior to this. Very well indeed.

Hello Everyone. Is there any place where I could view the Australian OPen free? Live and Replay. Because ESPN and AOTV require login from an cable company and I'm not sure if that is an extra charge. CAn someone please help? THANK YOU.

Maria was rusty first couple of games. After that she just sailed along. Impressed with her aces after her collar bone injury scare. Less DFs too. Overall, great first round match all things considered. Could have benefitted from a more competitive match but who's complaining? Bring on the next contender!

That would be Misaki Doi--okay, but she had to work to get past an ill, then injured Petra Martic.

First real competition would be Venus.

The marketing, agent and/or public relations teams of Maria Sharapova joined Twitter on Monday, hours after the world No. 2 was a double-bagel winner in her first-round win at the Australian Open.

How did the four-time Grand Slam winner dip her toes into the Twitter waters? By subtly referencing her upscale line of candy, of course:

Your ultimate sugarmama has arrived #myfirsttweet
The tweet was accompanied by a photo of Sharapova mimicking a painted silhouette of a young girl blowing bubbles.

Sharapova has a dry sense of humor that would play well on Twitter, but unless she's getting the nudge from members of her business team, I wouldn't expect her to be super-tweeter like her tennis nemesis, @serenawilliams.

In other Sharapova news, she visited ESPN's set following her double bagel of Olga Puchkova. Host Chris Fowler took the opportunity to ask a relaxed Maria whether she heard the first-round score of rumored boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov. (He lost.)The question drew instant giggles from Sharapova, turned her face the color of her "cheeky" gummy candy and elicited a playfully defensive, "come on, I'm not saying anything."

That says everything Maria!

An other mile stone in Maria's career is that she is in a exclusive small group of players who have won a double bagel match in each Grand Slam tournament. A great statement, a legency to continue, lol !!!  I love writing too Maria.

Iridescence - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iridescence

Iridescence (also known as goniochromism) is generally known as the property of certain surfaces that appear to change color as the angle of view or the angle angle of illumination changes. There are numerous common examples of iridescence; for example, soap bubbles, butterfly wings, and sea shells.

Maria playing 4th on Hisense arena tomorrow. I'm so glad i have fox sports, otherwise i wouldn't be able to watch the match live. The main Australian broadcaster is extremely biased and will play any match with an aussie in it, even if they're a no-name. Don't get me wrong, i love supporting my country and watching young talent (anyone watch Duckworth v Mitchell today? That was a very good match, went for 4 and a half hours and quite high quality) but when it comes to Maria, I don't care if your name is Sam Stosur, I wanna watch Maria, regardless if you're an aussie or not.

Also lol at Serena's injury scare. Watch her come out and win 6-0 6-0 all the way to the semis. Drama queen

If you have seen Serena during the match of Venus on Monday, you know why she is the drama queen of tennis.( Gatorate promotion on court). If you twist your ankle, you eighter stop play or continue. That you win with 6-0, 6-0 says enough. Serena you are in the wrong part of the world at the moment, you belong to Hollywood.

Ps;  Does anyone has news about Doi ??  What kind of player is she and what do you expect from this match ?
