Excellent performance by TEAM RUSSIA, playin' both double- and singlefinals.


MASHA was excellent winning her round robin and beating Vika in the semi-final.


I don't see why she shouldn't win this final. She has all the weapons, looks physically


allright and believes in it as only a true CHAMPION can. Take that DARK FORCE down


girl...lotsa people count on u


And if you loose, well so be it...not the end of the world after a fantastic season...

The russian girls have just won the doubles title! 6-1 6-4 with a solid performance! Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova played very well. Congrats for the girls! Now is just wait for the singles final, maybe it will be a golden day for the russians if Maria Sharapova wins the match. Go Maria, you can do it! We believe in you!

Extemely PROUD of the way Maria handled tonights match.

Yeah you heard me, I AM PROUD.

For the first time Maria raised her level and the match was all about the little details here and there. For the first time Maria actually believed she can do it. She is getting closer and closer...

I believe she played beautifuly considering her past encounters with said player. She needs some fine tuning but she is getting there.

Very proud of what you achieved this year Maria. Keep working you are definetely on the right path and we still havent seen the best of you!

I honestly really didn't expect Maria to win at all, so I wasn't greatly disappointed or anything. 


I'm so proud because she played really well despite her loss! Much much better results than that horrible Olympic final. She held her serve really well, and fought against Serena. I feel like she kept quite calm and didn't get her emotions affected or anything and start breaking down.


She really just needed a break point opportunity...but didn't get one. 


Really sad that the year is now over, and no more tennis and no more Maria to watch for like 2 months. 


I will be anticipating Maria in 2013 ♥ !! 


Please have a good relaxing vacation Maria! And then come back fighting to be #1 in 2013!!! :D

ISTANBUL -- Mexico City, Singapore, Kazan in Russia and Tianjin in China are the four cities in the race to succeed Istanbul as the host of the WTA Championships starting in 2014.


The WTA said Sunday the four cities have been shortlisted as possible hosts for the year-end championships that bring together the eight top-ranked women players in the world.


The event has been moving around the world and is in the middle of a three-year contract with Istanbul, which will also host the 2013 edition.

I'm proud of Maria's performance today she played solid on her serve, when her serve was broken it wasn't that she made stupid mistakes. She was trying to get a break but all the time she was on the way for it Serena came with huge first serves. I'm sad about the result, but I'm also proud of Maria she played a great tounament and more than that a great year.

Now she will take a rest and will to come to Brazil, my contry, to play an exhibition against Caroline Wozniacki on December 7th and I got tickets to watch her. I barely can wait!

It is with PRIDE and SADNESS that I write this email. I'll hope Maria reads this, as it is in honour of her !!



PROUD of winning over 60 matches this season, SAD that her best season ever is over.
PROUD for being in 9 finals of 13 tournaments, SAD that she lost 6 of them.
PROUD for winning a career slam in Paris, SAD that she did not win the gold medal.


PROUD of her for her humble attitude in this crazy life of hers, SAD that I can not be part of it.
PROUD of becoming # 1 in the ranking again, SAD that she lost the spot to Azarenka.
PROUD of her being a passionate competitor, SAD that I am not able to meet her and praise her for that.
PROUD of her being a business woman, SAD that I was not able to buy Sugarpova during my visit to New York.

MARIA , I LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR THIS GREAT TENNIS SEASON. YOU BRING JOY TO MY  LIFE .

There is no such thing called 'too strong, there must be some ways to beat her. Otherwise, she would not have lost twice in this year. Lol! Maria, gotta beat Serena real hard next year!!!

I have to agree... this year, since Paris (ironically!) she-man williams has been untouchable. She has BEATEN all THE 'NORMAL' GIRLS, including maria, azarenka and radwanska comfortably. Maria has had a good season, BUT it would have been great IF she had just won a couple of those matches she lost against azarenka and she- man in the major tournaments. BUT SHE DIDN'T COME THAT CLOSE. Truth is, apart from Paris, there always seems to be ONE girl maria can't beat in the majors...be it kvitova, azarenka, and especially she-man, who has the best serve since graf or navratilova IMO. SHE-MAN CAN CONTINUE TO WIN THESE MAJORS AS LONG AS HER SERVE HOLDS UP. Unfortunately, that is the problem with maria....her serve just isn't reliable enough. No one can deny she fights to the end, and she has done well to reach 9 finals....we would have killed for that a couple of years ago! ITS JUST THAT THERE ARE STILL TWO PLAYERS ahead of her IMO.....WITHOUT HER ADDING TO HER GAME I don't see THAT CHANGING NEXT YEAR.

Great year, great tournament. Maria keeps improving her movement and her serve is way better than it was a year ago, and it seems to still be improving. Azarenka, she can beat; Serena not so much, yet... Her game is still in an upward mode and she still has room to grow it more. Most impressive to me has been her improved movement. She may be able to include a few new wrinkles in her game due to this. 2013 brings many points to defend and I hope that she can improve on her current level and be more consistent with all her shots, because I know she will not ever stop fighting to be better.
Congratulations Maria on a great season and I hope you have a wicked great vacation...You really, really deserve it!!! Then back to work. We'll still be here next year to support you. And congrats to Thomas as well, for he has really helped her get back to the top of her game.
Have a good rest of the year everybody!!! Cheers.

The highlight of this tournament for me was Maria beating Vika. Sweet revenge. Of course, Vika had to act the cry baby each time she is losing to Maria. Pretending to be in pain. Maria wasn't having any of that. She did a great job.


Didn't expect too much from her match against Serena..... so wasn't disappointed. Maria had the best year in her tennis life. I hope she has a great vacation and rest, come back in 2013 as hungry for victory as in 2012. Her goal for next year should be at least one more grand slam.
