Maria gets another win.

The first set was impressive and Maria dominated while serving beautifuly. The second set started the same and Maria was up 3-0. Then Safarova started playing good, and I mean really good. Maria got shaky, was cought of the moment and before you knew it Maria was facing the possibility of another 3 setter match. But both times Maria broke back and eventually forced the tie break which she eventually won.

All in all Maria looked a bit tired and it was very important that she got rid of that match in 2 sets.

So, another day of Maria prevailing, and another day of desperation for some people. All in all everything is pretty much normal in Maria Sharapova's official website! :D

Congrats, Maria in getting to the QFs. Much better match than yesterday. Maria needs to really pump herself up against Sam tomorrow if she wants to be in the semis. The motivation and hunger is not there YET.

Yep, another win for Miss. Sharapova. A quick first set i might add,i was busy on my cellphone writing text messages, and suddenly she had taken the first set. Talk about being fast,- or me being slow ;-)
Anyway, Maria did her job and is back in the quarterfinal.
I have a job interview tomorrow, so i hope that i get to see a little bit of Marias´ match.
As allways i wish Maria the best, and ups, i almost forgot to congratulate with todays win.
Guess my brain is elsewhere today.
Have a great day everyone
;-)

Seems like Maria had some difficulties to beat Safarova in the 2nd set... But she won, and this is the most important !! Now Stosur !!

This is one of her bad habits, being sloppy when she leads in a match.

Too bad Maria failed to force the 3rd set. It could have been an awesome battle.

But she looked tired in general, and indeed those last 2 matches, especially the 2nd round match was the one that did the damage in my opinion.

All in all, I think this is the 2nd worse tournament of the entire season for Maria. And she reached the quarterfinals...think about it...

PS: Cant wait for Long_Suffering_Masha_Fan's words! He will probably be on the verge of cutting his wrists! Please post pictures...

Sigh, too close in the second game!!! Too close!!! And too nervewracking. Literally watched this match to tears. (Also probably just having an emotional day) Only Maria could do this to me :'(( I think if she won this match, she probably could've had a great chance to win the championship!! But... :'(

Overall, this match was I guess quite sloppy overall >< Many frustrating moments and errors ! But really glad she improved on her double faults! Hope THAT continues for future games!

I still love her so much though!! Just wish she could keep her game at the most crucial moments!!! :'( I hope she does well in the China Open!!!! Hopefully losing this match was so she could have few days rest before starting a new tournament ;)

Unfortunately she lost today even she made less unforced erros and more winners than Stosur. Maria didn't play her best tennis in some key games and points. She had some chances a break up in both sets but didn't keep it losing her service game just after breaking and she also was 5-3 up in the tiebreak. Those key points that she missed gave Stosur a place in semi-final. I'm sad about the result but Maria will always have my support. Keep going Maria, you can do better in China. Keep your mind positive!

Didn't see the match but overall in was a poor played tournament. Not sure if she can keep the momentum after such a great year !! Normally she plays very well in Japan, looks like motivation is not there right now. If she wants to finish as the # 1 this year, there are only 2 tournaments left to get there. Missing Sasha ?? lol.

Most top players are running on fumes by now. People need to see the bigger picture here.

Kvitova is out, Li is out, Azarenka walks over, Maria loses.

The schedule needs to be fixed in my opinion. It is not just Maria that suddenly seems tired, it is almost every player in the top 10 out there.

She hasn't played particularly well since the beginning of the tournament so expected. Fatigue might be the reason as well.

Best of luck in Beijing!

Yes, I think you're right! Maybe she was tired and couldn't play well since begining of the tournament! She lost first set against Watson and it shows Maria wasn't in good shape!

Anyway, Maria has just two other tournaments and she must play better than this tournament! Maria doesn't have enough time to rest she will play two days later at China Open! I don't know what she will do!!

Come on Maria

Li Na, I believe will leave everything she's got left on the court in Beijing. (Doesn't give a damn about Istanbul.)

Serena, however, has gotta be readying for the YEC. I don't think you'll ever see her play Tokyo again--and it's nothing to do with radiation. She's afraid they hold a grudge for her assault on the Japanese-American judge at the USO. Bejing, OTOH--gotta be about Istanbul.

Couldn't agree more about our lovely Chinese darling:)

Yep, Masha wasn't there in Tokyo, was indeed "obvious" from the first round, today is just the confirmation.

Someone wrote on twitter about Vika "good thing she vary in her injuries"...hey, just saying:)

We know Vika and her injuries by now. Maria lost and Vika withdrew form the tournament. She is only looking at this # 1 spot for year end and some wins in Istanbul. Serena not in China is also no surprise. As lazy as she is , who wants to fly to the other end of the world for 1 tournament. Too busy at the moment with her new boy friend.
