Ovechkin tweeting some fun at French Open
If you’re looking to get a glimpse of Alex Ovechkin and his walking boot, you might want to check out the French Open, where his fiancée, Maria Kirilenko, has reached the quarterfinals for the first time in her tennis career.
Ovechkin [@ovi8] and Kirilenko [@mkirilenko] have been posting tweets about their stay in Paris, including this one with Ovechkin in the referee’s chair at Roland Garros. [Notice his rainbow sneaker and booted left foot.]
The 12th-ranked Kirilenko will face two-time major champion Victoria Azarenko in the quarterfinals.
As for Ovechkin’s willingness to play with the non-displaced fracture in Russia’s loss to the U.S. in the World Hockey Championships two days after the Caps were eliminated, the Caps’ captain tweeted, “It was our play off [and] my country!! I be ready to start train for next season very soon like normal ))))!!! along with this photo.
If his foot heals properly, Ovechkin should be able to remove the boot sometime near the end of next week and begin his summer workout program after that.
Ovechkin and Kirilenko have been mum about their wedding plans, including when and where they will exchange their vows.

MOSCOW, June 16 (RIA Novosti) - Washington Capitals superstar Alexander Ovechkin has won Hart Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player for the third time during his eight-season career in the league, the NHL said on its website.
Ovechkin won back-to-back Hart Trophies in 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons, and now joins the company of such NHL superstars as Bobby Orr, Mario Lemieux and Wayne Gretzky, who have won at least three MVP awards during their careers.
The announcement came on Saturday before Game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals between Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks.
Ovechkin, 27, beat out New York Islanders alternate captain John Tavares and Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby in the race for the award.
"I'd love to open a tennis school for children in my hometown of Sochi." said Sharapova Maria.
