Roger had to fight in the opening round of the Olympic tournament at the All England Club today, defeating Colombia's Alejandro Falla 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.

"It's great coming back (after winning Wimbledon), but it's so much harder to do it again in the first round knowing that every match for me is like a final. I'm really relieved and hoping to keep it up," Roger said.

Our champ seemed to absolve the first round with ease, when he allowed Falla back into the match after wasting three match points in the second set. He was then pushed hard by the world number 51 in the decider before sealing a tougher than expected win on his fifth match point.

Roger will now face Julien Benneteau in the last 32. Roger had to come from two sets down to win against the Frenchman in this year's Wimbledon.

Frida, 


   Roger did not attend the ceremony because he had a match next day.


I know other athletes did the same thing, like Michael Phelps, Andy Murray, etc.

It was so scary, Falla played really well.


I'm glad Roger pulled through!


I am scared about the next match against Benneteau.


It will be really tough!


Tomorrow he plays doubles with Stan


against Kei and Soeda

Roger in quarterfinals

"Roger booked a spot in the quarter-finals of the London Olympics with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin today.

Even though Roger was not at his absolute best, he secured a clear victory today in his quest for a first gold medal in the singles. Play only started after a rain delay of over an hour. Roger found an excellent start, breaking right in the second game. But his 3-0 lead then melted as Istomin broke back and Roger had to save two break points at 5-5 to then finally go all the way, securing the set with his third set point. Another early break in the second set was then enough for our champ to wrap up the encounter after 1 hour and 21 minutes.

Roger will now play John Isner or Janko Tipsarevic in the quarter-finals."


I think this match will be tough

SILVER FOR ROGER!!
Roger won his first Olympic medal today after losing against Andy Murray 6-2, 6-1, 6-4 in the tennis final at Wimbledon.

Roger started well, earining a break-point in the opening game, but Murray rallied to hold. And then, from 2-2 the match suddenly started slipping away for Roger as he lost every game until 0-5 in the second set. Roger tried to hang in there and did have his chances to break, including in the third game of the second set where he could not convert six break points but Murray finally also took that game. Murray eventually went on to end the match with three aces in series.

The silver medal is a special one for Roger, despite the defeat, a it is the first Olympic one for Roger in the four Olympic Games he has participated in so far.
