Russian pair in Australian Open semis

On Monday, Yekaterina Makarova and Yelena Vesnina of Russia advanced to the semifinals of the 2013 Australian Open currently under way in Melbourne.
The pair defeated Silvia Soler-Espinosa and Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain 1-6, 7-5,6-4.
In the semifinals, the Russians will face the winner of a match between Italian pair of Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci and their US rivals Serena and Venus Williams.
On Monday, Russia’s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic made it to the quarterfinals of the mixed doubles event at the 2013 Australian Open currently under way in Melbourne.
The pair got the better of Serbia’s Jelena Jankovic and Mirjana Lucic-Baroni of Croatia.
