Q.  Can you just talk about what you have done to become a better mover on clay specifically this season or in seasons past and what Thomas has brought in terms of advice, movement, strategy?

MARIA SHARAPOVA:  I don't think it's always been, Oh, well, let's improve movement on clay.  I think it's just about improving movement in general on any surface that you're playing.

Obviously there are a few different movements on clay with the sliding and the recovering and getting back into the point which you work on, but I think it's just a general sense of movement.

I work with Japanese trainer that I've known for a long time, physical trainer from Florida.  He was in Australia for a few years and now he came back to the States, so I started working with him in the offseason a little bit here and there.

I'll see him again after here.  Yeah, that's also been nice to have him.  Yeah, I think it's a team effort.  Also comes down to your own self, as well.  If you push yourself and if you believe that that will help you, then it will.

You know, if you go out doing the same things and it gets tiring and boring, you don't push yourself as much, doesn't help you.

Dartagnan: Yes, you need new strategies to win new tournaments and Grand Slams. You have to be clever on the court. Tennis is like a chess game, you need a new strategy for each match&opponent. You can't win all matches with the same strategy.

DAVAI MASHA !!!!!!! GOD HELPS THOSE WHO HELP THEMSELVES.

A recent interview of Masha about her new coach, Thomas.

Finally Masha told us the secret of her victory.

Sharapova: After the first training with Thomas I thought that I was going to die.

Thomas is the key of Maria Sharapova's team. Maria respects him for his work&energy, he brought in her team.

His words&energy helped Masha a lot. Thomas continues to study tennis that is why he often stays in his room many days and watches tennis matches so Masha is very happy for his motivation. Thomas likes very much his work, Masha noticed it the first day she met him.

On speaking French in the trophy ceremony...
"It's fun. Actually when I first hurt my shoulder and knew I would probably not be playing for about two or three months, for some reason the first thing I did was find a French school close to my house and do private lessons every single day for three months. After that I had to start travelling to Phoenix to see a shoulder specialist there, going Monday to Friday, so I stopped, which was unfortunate. But it was really the first thing on my mind to learn a language. I chose French. I didn't achieve much in the language department, but you know..."

50-21.jpg Maria Sharapova with Russian flag, Fed Cup 2008 Israel

About Masha's retirement:

Sharapova: “To keep going, that’s my goal,” she said. “Whether I win or lose, I will retire the day that I wake up and I feel like I don’t believe that I can become a better player. And what I have is not enough. That will be the day I will stop trying to achieve that.”

Dartagnan: I think it is the role of the coach to find the trouble of the sport person and to solve it. When a good coach solves your problems, you will continue to play tennis a very long time because you will be happy to have a huge success. If you have the wrong coach, you won't have a success and you will quit tennis.

It is very important to work with the right coach. The one who understands your trouble in sport and solves it. But it is also important to love your job. It is also the key. If you have a talent and you work every day with a good coach, you will have a success.

I give here a good example about the importance of having a good coach in sport. A coach should also be a good adviser in a difficult situation&decision.

Isinbayeva is 30 years old but she is still very famous in her field. She wanted to retire but her coach saved her.

Isinbayeva: I Was Close to Quitting

Russian pole vault world record holder Yelena Isinbayeva would have quit the sport if the coach she calls her "second father" hadn't taken her back last year, she has told RIA Novosti.

Isinbayeva set a new indoor world record of 5 metres 1 centimeter in Stockholm last month, almost a year after returning to her childhood coach Evgeny Trofimov.

Isinbayeva dropped Trofimov in 2005, but went to her home city of Volgograd to seek his forgiveness in March 2011, and says she would have quit the sport if he refused to take her back.

"I understood: either him or no-one. With that thought I went to Volgograd: either Evgeny Vasilevich [Tromifov] or the end of my career," she said in an exclusive interview with RIA Novosti this week.

"And, thank God, my career continues."

Trofimov encouraged a 15-year-old Isinbayeva to try pole vaulting in 1997 after she failed as a gymnast. He developed her prodigious talent, training her until 2005, when she dropped him in favor of working with former men's world record holder Sergey Bubka.

Isinbayeva was far ahead of the competition between 2003 and 2009, when she set 27 world records, but her form tailed off in 2010 and she took a break from the sport.

This led to an epiphany when she realized she was missing Trofimov, she said.

"I understood that something wasn't right when I started to lose. I started to delve into myself. And that's how I realized that the problem was something different, and that only Evgeny Vasilevich could raise me to a new level."

She chose to meet Trofimov on a day when Orthodox Christians ask forgiveness for their sins, she said.

"We met. The conversation was straightforward. It was like the return of the prodigal daughter; I left, wandered and returned."

She added: "He's like a father to me. A second father. And parents forgive their children."

Trofimov said that their first meeting was extremely emotional.

"That moment was very difficult, even dramatic. Then, on March 8, she returned to our home with her parents and we finally decided to work together again."

"At the first training session, there was a feeling that she had never actually left. Exactly that feeling at the training session, respect for the coach," he said.

"It was as if everything was washed away, as if nothing had happened, and I continued to work with her like that."

Isinbayeva and Trofimov have an exceptionally close bond, she said.

"We work without any snags. In full understanding, in complete mutual respect. He's a professional, he's a great coach and I'm happy to do what he tells me."

"Sometimes we don't even need to speak. I understand him from syllables, from brief looks."

Isinbaeyeva will seek her third Olympic gold medal in succession in London this summer, and is also a double world outdoor championship and three-time world indoor champion.

Boris Becker’s tips on how to play on grass and how to win Wimbledon:

Bend your knees: “This is the No 1 thing. You move on grass totally differently to any other surface. It’s very slippery, very soft, and the ball bounces quite low. So therefore, whether you like it or not, you have to bend your knees at all times. The first couple of days, you’re going to feel it in your legs much more than on any other surface.”

Understand the movement of the ball: “On grass, the bounce is softer, meaning that it’s slower. On clay courts and hard courts, you sometimes play behind your opponent, as you want to go against play. On grass, you want your opponent to run into the open court because the ball slides away from him, and the players, once he gets to the ball, is likely to slip on the grass. You want your opponent to move.”

Shorten the points – drop-shots can be deadly, and come to the net when you can:“Shorten the points – players don’t do this enough. A drop-shot on grass is deadly. You don’t have to come to the net to play great volleys, but use the grass court to shorten the points. Most baseliners are uncomfortable with the net. If you have any feel or understanding of how to win quicker points you will know you must come forward and use the grass court. A lot of players play on grass the same way that they play on clay, and that’s why you have such long rallies.

“People say that you don’t have to serve and volley any more, and I understand that. You don’t have to serve and volley. But you can still come to the net. Even Nadal and Djokovic, the years that they won Wimbledon, were actually coming to net and looking for the quick volley. It’s frustrating for me. Playing on grass came naturally to me. I didn’t have to think. That was the same with players like Sampras and Edberg. But, with some of the others, that’s not natural. Therefore they don’t it.”

Don’t play as if you’re on a hard court. You’re not: ”The grass is a little bit different to when I was playing, but it’s not a hard court. I think the balls are a bit thicker, so that slows the game down a little bit, but it’s still a grass court.”

DON'T WORRY MARIA, A FAILURE IS ALSO A CHANCE FOR A FUTURE VICTORY.

WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS AND NOT ROBOTS SO WE ALSO NEED A REST.

I think that Maria Sharapova needs a good rest because she won 3 trophies the last few months.

1) One in Suttgart (where was Liscski in Stuttgart? in her own country)

2) Second in Roma

3) Third in Paris

It is not good to force a person to win all tournaments. Maria is a human being and not a tennis robot.

At least I am happy that Maria has lost this match at Wimbledon 2012, she will have time to be more relaxed before the Olympic Games.

I am very happy for Maria Sharapova. I know she is an excellent athlete, Maria is a Champion in tennis.

Don't be sad Masha, be happy, you have a great potential in tennis. You will have other opportunities in your tennis career, I promise you.

We love you a lot

I have many questions about the matches of Maria Sharapova vs Serena Williams.

1) Do you think that Serena Williams became unbeatable at the age of 31 years old ?

2) What does make Serena Williams to play a better tennis than Maria Sharapova's tennis at the moment ?

3) What new method does Serena Williams use to defeat Maria Sharapova ?

4) Do you think that Serena Williams has a better coach than Maria Sharapova's coach ?

5) Do you think that only the physical strength is enough for Serena Williams to defeat Maria Sharapova ?

6) Is Maria Sharapova afraid of Serena Williams' physical strength ?

7) Does Serena Williams become a male after many years of tennis ?

There is always a method to defeat the strongest tennis player of the planet. I mean you have to defeat her not by chance but by a new method of work. You have to create the new conditions to defeat your opponent. If you keep the same conditions and method of work, you won't defeat her.

There is no secret;

You have to create the new conditions to defeat your opponent:

1) by working (of course)

 2) by using a "new effective method of work" for you

3) by using new ideas from different persons or even new coaches

4) by studying carefully your opponent's tennis

5) by motivating yourself

Dartagnan: Don't put pressure on Maria Sharapova !!! Maria has to train with method.   Only Masha knows her weak and strong points. But what is fantastic with Maria Sharapova, she always surprises us by winning new tournaments.  Good luck Masha !!!  Masha is special !!!

Dartagnan: We congratulate Masha&her team for this new victory.

A new victory for Masha is also a new motivation for her in tennis. Maria Sharapova looks very happy, it is a good sign. It is normal because Maria is satisfied with her tennis, she increased her tennis level. BUT it is not the end of the battle....It is a new hope, an opened door to future victories. Maria Sharapova never let herself be discouraged by a defeat because she knows that by working everyday her tennis, one day she will be the best tennis player of the planet. She knows that any "Dinosaurs" will stop her because she is a clever person.
