Maria, obviously, for the women. From the moment I saw her stand up to Serena at the 2004 Wimbledon, I knew the girl had something special.

I don't really have a favorite male player out there today. But I was a huge Agassi fan. I followed him as closely as I do Maria and I was proud of what he accomplished in his career, with all his ups and downs.

Yes, I was aware of Agassi's Iranian heritage. :)

Another great thing about Maria's victory yesterday was how similar it was to what Agassi did in 1999. It had been about 4 years since his last major win and he needed the French to complete the career Grand Slam. And he played the clay court tournament of his life and won the Open to complete his career slam. And, like Maria, it gave him one of each slam at the time. Of course, he went on to win 4 more majors in his career after that. Hopefully, Maria can do something similar.

In the past

I liked Steffi Graf for her hard-work. She won 22 Grand Slams. Oh my God !!!

Steffi Graf is a former World No. 1 German tennis player. At age 13 she became the second youngest player ever to earn an international ranking. In 1987 she won her first grand-slam event. In 1988, she won all four grand-slam events (French, Australian, U.S., Wimbledon) and an Olympic gold medal. In total, she won 22 Grand Slam singles titles. Graf retired in 1999 and married Andre Agassi.

Today I love Masha.

"I'd love to open a tennis school for children in my hometown of Sochi." said Sharapova Maria.

We should not forget that Agassi's dad was a former Olympic boxer for Iran .
