Well, let's see now. Maria is pretty much guaranteed to survive the first week at least. First Opponent, Cadantu is ranked 75. Second possible, Herzog (38) or Erakovic (40). Third round, Pavlyucheva (22) or Kirilenko (16).

After that the big seeds begin to come into play and it will very much depend on how various players have performed up to this point.

In the past I would have said this is not a particularly easy draw for Maria. Remember Kirilenko knocked her out of the AO in the first round a couple of years ago. Without Thomas's on court coaching, this is probably Maria's biggest test so far to see how she copes with the various players should she encounter stiff resistence.

And suddenly Jedi-Mistress Philli Wan in soft words pronounced her verdict she did.

Age was it or the dark dreams about the Reaper? Lost her mighty Lightsaber and with it

those word so very sharp and edgy...the Universe will tell; unrest in the heart the

Guylian King felt, for once many lightyears ago their hearts were together...many, so many...

The second Grand Slam of year is close! I hope Maria plays well and wins this Grand Slam.

Maria's first match is against Cadantu! I believe that Maria will beat Cadantu!

Go Go Maria!

Philli Wan thought about the Tiger's words.  'Perhaps he is right, I'm getting too old for this shit'  She threw her hood over her head and turned away from the training arena intent on disappearing into the crowd and not being recognized as one of the greatest warriors of all time.   Suddenly a hand grabbed her shoulder.  Instantly, her hand reached under her cloak and grasped the grip of her light racquet before turning round.  As she did so, two large muscular arms gripped her in a bear hug and she found herself looking into the warm friendly eyes of Hans Olo.  A smile shot across her face.  'Hans you scoundrel, nice to see you again'.  Over his shoulder she saw his faithful buddy Chewing Tabacca.  She addressed him'  Are you still hanging around with this loser?'

'He's the best loser I know Philli' he replied with a grin.

Hans immediately loosened his grip on Philli.  'Well thanks Guys, I love you too'.

They all laughed as the memories of a not too distant past all came flooding back.

'So what brings you here?' asked Philli.

'We just made a delivery and have some time on our hands, so I thought I'd look up Janko see if we can re-kindle a few old memories'.  He was grinning again.

'What kind of delivery?' asked Philli Wan curiuosly.

'I didn't ask, but it paid well'.

'I see', replied Philli taking it no further.

'So, anyway,' continued Hans, 'If she is still around, I thought maybe we could get together'.

'Oh she's still around', replied Philli, 'but go easy on her.  I heard she could hardly walk for about a week after you took her back to her home planet the last time'.

'Hey, I was pretty worn out too, that girl is hot'.

'Well go easy on her, she still need her legs to run around on'.  Laughing inside Philli Wan continued, 'and you're not as young as you were...you dont get new balls after seven games'.

Now all three of them were laughing out loud.  'Oh Philli, you haven't changed a bit'.

'I hope not', she replied. 'Life wouldn't be the same if I did'.

'Is Master Yuri still around disguised as something?' asked Chewy.

'I dont know, but if a bush rustles its leaves at you, be sure to say hello'.

'Will do', replied Chewy.

The three of them agrred to meet later and talk about old times. 'I'm sure the Princess will be happy to see you Hans...and you, of course, Chewy'.

They parted and went thier separate ways disappearing into the crowd.

A big smile crossed the Guylian's face, if u could still call it a face after his

last fight with the Dark Force.

It all came back watching the screen...Hans Olo, Chewing, fierce warriors all for one Princess.

"Philli Wan still has it" he said to one of the women. He looked for a reply but Kirenco was asleep.

He looked at Philli Wan again, the muscled body, those legs, those...his loud laugh awaked her.

"Who's that?" she asked with some jealousy..."Still one of the greatest warriors in this nebula" he whispered

proudly...

It's deflating knowing that, at best, Maria can only reach the quarterfinals of the French. Some Maria fans can remain defiant and believe that on any given day, results against Serena can be different. But it's clear her one-dimensional style is no match for her. You cannot bludgeon your way to victory over Serena Williams. How many more embarrassing one-sided losses will it take to realize this. It's no accident Stosur and Wozniacki are two of the players who have beaten Williams over the past year. Their off-speed style has the potential to throw Serena off balance and limit her power.  It's essential to mix it up against her.  And Maria just doesn't possess those skills.

So as inspiring as it's been watching Maria win two big clay court titles this year, I've lost hope in the French already.  It's a Serena coronation and it sickens me.

Well it's all not in Maria's favour at this moment ! She needs to deal with Serena , playing on Tuesday , which means less rest during the tournament and the weather is getting cooler and rain is on the way! Long waiting hours upcoming, Sasha not in Paris yet. When is this basketball season finally over.......pfff . Have fun the next two weeks, lets hope for some great matches.

What does need a tennis player during a tournament?

To prepare a serious tournament, you need a good training with your team.

You need to work on the strategies, you are going to use on court.

So when your strategies will work on court, everybody will be happy.

Hey folks, was away this weekend so I dont have all the info, but it seems that Maria gets a walkthrough in her first match right?

Dont know if that is a good thing, on one hand she gets away with a match and all the fatigue it comes with it, on the other hand I dont know if she needs these matches to tune up for the rest of the tournament. I had great fun reading some of your posts, especially Philli's and Tiger lol! See you in shoutbox! :)

Did anyone watch Vika's match?! That was SHOCKING

You all thought Maria made a lot of errors, I think Azarenka just took the mantle from her.

Well, if you saw what happened to the ball girl at 2-0 in the first set , you know exactly what personality Victoria has. No , she would not be a friend of mine. No wonder Maria and her aren't  getting along.

^^ She was lucky to pull herself together and eventually win it. Brianti just blew up a HUGE chance....

Vika was simply awful to look at...but she got the job done. Thats what counts and in the end I think this win will help her confidence, turning around such a match.
